How to make it

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet
  • Add the onion and saute
  • stir for about 12 minutes till golden brown.
  • stir in the garlic and saute roughly for about one minute
  • add the rice and cumin and saute for about one minute
  • Make the sure the rice is coated with oil
  • Add carrot, apple, ginger, broth, salt and heat to a boil. Cook covered over medium heat
  • for about 15 minutes and the rice is tender Do not stir the pilaf once it begins to cook..
  • Let the rice stand covered off heat for five minutes.
  • After the rice has stood off the heat you can then serve.
  • Spoon into a serving dish and sprinkle with walnuts and the dish is yum..
  • You can also add chopped celery and fresh parsely and a sprtiz of fresh lemon.
