Taco Seasoning Mix Recipe
This is my personal version of a substitute for a taco seasoning packet. It is YUMMY! It stores very well too.

Ingredients
  • Note: Amounts in parenthesis are multiplied by 8, for storage.
  • 1 tbs (1/2 c.) chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp (1/4 c.) ground cumin
  • 1 tsp (2 tbs + 2 tsp) cornstarch
  • 1 tsp (2 tbs + 2 tsp) instant sodium free beef bouillon (or your preferred flavor of instant sodium free bouillon)
  • 1/2 tsp (1 tbs + 1 tsp) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (1 tbs + 1 tsp) paprika
  • 1/2 tsp (1 tbs + 1 tsp) dried minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp (1 tbs + 1 tsp) dried minced onion
  • 1/4 tsp (2 tsp) dried cilantro leaves
  • 1/4 tsp (2 tsp) brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp (2 tsp) dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp (2 tsp) crushed red pepper flakes (makes it medium warm)

Directions
  1. Combine ingredients in a small bowl; for x8 store in a 2 c. container.
  2. Brown 1 lb. ground beef (or any meat substitute), drain.
  3. Add mix plus 1/3 c. water and cook for about 5 minutes. If you store it, shake the container well before using and use about 3 tbs of the mix.
  4. Serve.

What a great post! I am keeping this one, I seem to run out of taco seasoning on a regular basis.
Thanks

Wonderful recipe. I will definitely make this - we have tacos every other week. What a savings this will be. 5 forks
