Miz Frances Russian Tea Recipe

Miz Frances Russian Tea Recipe
My Grandmama Coker always makes this for Christmas--she hands you a mug of it before you sit by the fire. It makes the house smell amazing! The tea is very soothing and not too sweet.

Ingredients
  • 2 quarts of black tea (we use Lipton tea bags)
  • sugar for sweetening
  • 2T whole cloves
  • 24 oz can of pineapple juice
  • 6 oz can of frozen orange juice
  • 1 cup lemon juice

Directions
  1. To make the tea, bring a small pot of water to boiling then remove from heat and add 3 small tea bags. Let steep for an hour, then dilute with more water to make 2 quarts.
  2. Add sugar to sweeten tea--to taste, but at least a cup
  3. In a small pot boil 1 cup of water, add cloves, and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and pour into tea
  4. Next add pinapple juice and lemon juice to tea
  5. Add the frozen orange juice concentrate plus one can full of water (the can it comes in)
  6. If it tastes flat, add more lemon juice.
  7. Heat the tea to simmer and serve in mugs or teacups.
  8. You can keep the tea simmering on lowest setting for quite a while--keep leftovers chilled. Great warmed in microwave in place of breakfast coffee too!
