This recipe came off a Smithfield package as a spice mixture for pork chops. I've been using it for years on tuna, catfish, pork chops, chicken, anything that is worth blackening. It's the best I've found

If you try it with smoked paprika, let me know how it tastes. For me, that would be a dramatic departure in flavors. But I guess that's how a lot of really great recipes get started ;-)
This blend of spices is not a hot tasting mixture. If you prefer, you can liven it up a bit by doubling the red peppers.
