RUTABAGA CASSEROLE AU GRATIN Recipe
Basically rutabaga with cheese

Ingredients
  • 1 large rutabaga peeled and chopped
  • ¼ cup. butter or margarine, divided
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup. milk
  • 1 ½ cup. grated white Cheddar, divided
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup. Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs

Directions
  1. Bring rutabaga to boil; cook 20 minutes or until tender.
  2. Drain well; transfer to large bowl, and mash.
  3. Melt 1 tbsp. butter; add onion,
  4. sauté 3 minutes or until tender.
  5. Add onion, milk and 1 cup. cheese, salt, garlic and remaining ingredients to rutabagas.
  6. Spoon into lightly greased 9 X 13-inch baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle evenly with breadcrumbs and remaining ½ cup cheese. Bake 350 F. for 30 minutes or until lightly browned
