Corn Flake Topped French Toast With Almond Syrup Recipe
CORN FLAKE TOPPED FRENCH TOAST WITH ALMOND SYRUP This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Nicholas Estate in Dallas, Texas in 1986.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 Loaf French style bread
  • Corn flake crumbs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • Syrup:
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Directions
  1. Prepare the night before by mixing all wet ingredients and soaking bread overnight.
  2. The next morning preheat oven to 450 and spray large jelly roll pan with cooking spray.
  3. Sprinkle corn flake crumbs on both sides of bread and drizzle melted butter over top.
  4. Bake for 12 minutes on each side then serve immediately with syrup.
  5. To make syrup heat sugar and water until boiling then add butter and remove from heat.
  6. Add extract and mix thoroughly.
