I haven't been able to locate my tiny little Salt Book, which is why I haven't posted any of those tips I promised. We emptied the kitchen to do some repairs on the ceiling and nothing has been the same since. It will show up when I'm looking for something else, of course!

Let me start off the 101 uses for salt . Hmmm!!!

    1) salt for cooking (obvious)
    2) salt for pickling
    3) preserving
    4) koshering
    5) cleansing
    6) relieving pain

How am I doing so far?

    7) bathing
    8) absorbing liquid
    9) absorbing oil & fat
    10) throwing over your left shoulder for good luck (if you believe in this stuff)

    hmmmm!!!!!! (again)

    11) Gargling
    12) .................................................(now it's your turn

Sayyyy Ronny-- I just looked at the recipe again and realized what you meant. What a really nifty idear. I also like your uses for salt. Aren't you clever and funny!
Actually this little book is great fun to read, with some unusual ways to use salt, including the well-known ones. I thought I found it twice, but was disappointed to see it was some other little antique booklet. My collection of antique books grows and grows--perhaps they're reproducing on their own while the lights are out...?
So, whenever that day arrives when I actually FIND that dern thang, I'll post as many of them as I can. Maybe that's the soft chuckling I hear periodically: my little salt book, snickering and ducking out of my way when it sees me scootin' around the corner...!
    (I'll get you, my pretty!!!)

You know those dimples on our knees? Well, they're for holding salt in them so you can dip your celery...
