I need to learn to like audio books. I have a friend who listens to them.
You're right, I could do my embroidery while listening.

I like different types of books.

    Mystery, detective..

    love
    Dennis LeHane
    Harlen Coben
    Jeffrey Deaver
    Michael Connely
    Joe Finder

I happened to pick up a novel by Gail Tsukiama
    Women of the Silk

    and I got hooked!
I have read all of hers 5 I think and am on her newest.
They are set in China and Japan and there is so much history intertwined with the stories. I love to write reviews for Amazon and just put a review up for Women of the Silk.

    Wonderful idea for a group.
    Thanks, joymarie

Hi, I'm new to the group. Wanted to offer up some suggestions.

    I too love historical fiction.
Nefertiti by Michelle Moran was fantastic, I plan on buying her new one The Heretic Queen

I am really into Ted Dekker right now. I picked up Black just on a whim, the cover looked cool and I am hooked. There is the Circle Trilogy, Black, Red and White. The Lost Books of History, Chosen, infidel, Renegade and Chaos, and the Paradise Trilogy, Showdown, Saint and the newest one, Sinner.

They are each an independent series but are all connected. It is fascinating. I found the Circle trilogy in the Christian Fiction but don't be scared off, it's not about Christianity, it's about the religion they follow in the books. The Lost books were in the teen fiction section and the Paradise are in the regular fiction. I am totally engrossed, I am rereading Saint so I can start Sinner.

Well, those are some choices for now. I will add more later.

I just finished reading Gargoyle and it was amazing, a really good read. I tried listening to audio books while doing my cross stitch and I just can't seem to get into it. I think I need the book in my hands. I can't read e-books either, I want the real thing. However, I do read while I'm cooking, like if I have to use the mixer or stir something on the stove.

I guess I am like you PM. There is just something about holding that book and seeing the words. So much work goes into creating a novel. I am half-way thru Tsukiyama's newest THE STREET OF A THOUSAND BLOSSOMS. It's over 400 pages and just great.

I love Jodi Picoult and Anne Tyler...I think I've read all their books. Jodi tackles some incredible moral dilemas, and Anne writes about the most interesting and eccentric characters!

I love to read when I have time...but when I have so much to do, I feel guilty sitting down with a book! LOL I listened to my first audio book and was HOOKED!!! I can "multi-task"...clean the house, travel. crochet, whatever and still enjoy a book! And I get them free from the library...even better! ;)
