For the November Recipe Challenge
This is a wonderful soup. I tried to cut the recipe in half by just eyeballing the amounts and it turned out to be just right. I also used mushroom stock instead of beef stock and I didn't add potatoes but added a chopped green pepper instead. I also did not add the wine either. All in all a delightful soup for a cold Fall day. I will certainly be making this again and again. Thank you for sharing, Giner. November 18, 2017

Lol, I forgot to say I put the tomato in the pic just for colour. There isn't any in the soup.

Nice pic Joce! It looks delicious! I've never heard of putting cabbage in a beef and barley soup before but I bet it was yummy. Did you make a mushroom stock? Sounds super super tasty!

Thanks, Janet. No, the stock was Campbell's Mushroom Broth in the carton. I like it much better than their beef Broth I also added some Knorr beef bouillon stuff in the little packages. I even had Den give it a taste and he was impressed with it and he really doesn't like soup

I've never heard of mushroom broth nor seen it. I'll have to look for it next time I go shopping and pick some up! (Mushroom stuff was on of the trend's for next year yes?) LOL!

Manella, (Eastcoaster) had a recipe with it a couple of years ago and I tried it and have never looked back. It is in with all the other carton broths by Campbells. They make a vegetable one as well.

Oh YUM!!! That is a delicious looking bowl of soup for sure Joce! I too have never seen mushroom stock, but I just use bouillon cubes or use homemade so I never really look at the broths at the store. I'll have to look for it though, I know I'd like it :)
