Comfy Beef Stew With A Brew

    I did enjoy this recipe but found that I had a taste issue. After I simmered for several hours that when I tasted it there was a fresh taste and not a stew taste so I added beef bullion to the stew. It did help but I think next time I will try beef broth rather than water.

That's an awful lot of liquid - 3 C. water plus the beer or beef broth (or both, as suggested by the recipe submitter). That would be over 5 C. liquid and more like beef soup than stew. Did you find it that way?

    Yes Bakerme now that I think about it I do agree. Had not thought about it at the time.

    Ml2c it is actually I am planning for to reheat this on Thursday night. And you are correct all stews etc to taste better the second time around.

    Looks like a hearty stew from the submitter's photo. I also prefer broth over water. I was going to suggest that maybe it needed a dark beer, but I see you used that. Glad you could tweak it and make it taste somewhat better.
