This was so easy to make and made my Christmas cutout cookies look super cute! They look so good that I'm going to hate to give them away!

Cosmicmom, I made some tree and candy cane shaped cutouts, then piped simple back and forth green lines on the trees for branches and put a mini red M&M at the top, and piped thin red and white lines on the candy canes instead of covering the whole cookie. They look so cute!

Glad this worked out for you. I need a good royal icing type frosting. Did I read that correctly that is has a raw egg white in it?

DIZ, the recipe note says you can use 1 T. meringue powder instead of the raw egg white, and will need to add 2 T. additional water. I used the meringue powder and added enough extra water to get the honey-like consistency I wanted. Here is Babs' actual note: "1 Tbsp. meringue powder can be substituted for egg white. Add to the powdered sugar and use additional 2 Tbsp. of warm water."

I always sift powdered sugar before using it to get out all those little lumps it can sometimes have. I just sifted the meringue powder with the powdered sugar and it worked great.

It was easy to make and easy to use, Cheryl. I'm no decorator by a long shot and had no trouble with it. I'm so encouraged by how nice my Christmas cutouts turned out that I'm thinking of making Valentine cookies in a few months and using it for them :) I love making and sharing cookies!
