Holy Moly Gaucamole by Choclytcandy

This guacamole has peas in it! I don't know why it has peas in it, but I would guess along with the Greek yogurt it gives it a lot more protein, making it more belly-filling and satisfying.
I used frozen peas instead of the canned. I google-searched how many peas are in a 15oz can and one site told me 1-1/2 cups, so that's what I used. I boiled, drained and cooled them. Then mashed them by hand with a fork. But next time I would use a food processor so that all the peas are more finely ground up.
I did use cilantro, as it was optional, but didn't add any hot peppers. I used a variety of grape and cherry tomatoes that were multi-coloured (purple, orange, yellow, red) and a red onion for the onion called for. It calls for 1/2 cup of avocado, I used two small avocados because the first one was only 1/4 cup (the recipe said one medium avocado is 1/2 cuo).
I could taste the peas at first, or rather smell them I guess? So at first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. But once I got past the first couple of bites I didn't sense them anymore and I couldn't put the dip down, delicious! I think it was because I knew they were in there; perhaps serving this to someone who didn't know it was there wouldn't be able to detect them! ;)

It was definitely more filling! It was my afternoon snack and it kept me full for quite some time.
After posting this I waited for Pete to come home and try it, I didn't tell him what was in it. After a few bites I had him try and guess what was different about it, even hinting "green vegetable" and he guessed spinach and kale etc...when I told him peas he said oh, now I can taste it. But like I said if you didn't know you wouldn't be able to detect it! ;)

Funny, I found this recipe just by searching for guacamole without the intention of finding one with peas or peppers--but saw this and had to make it for the challenge! I would never have thought of peas either, but it works! :)
