    Recipe: The Mint Martini

***March 2019 Group Recipe Challenge -- Irish & Green***

I made this a couple of days ago and I’m not sure it was worth the effort. I wanted to have something green for St. Patrick’s Day. I took one picture before accidentally knocking the glass over and spilling the entire drink. It splashed all over my camera. Hopefully, the camera works okay in the future. What a mess to clean up!

I was skeptical about this from the get go. I love creme de menthe candy and desserts. Every creme de menthe flavored alcohol I’ve tried tastes like really bad cold medicine. I was happy to see this only used a splash. I used just enough to make it mint green. The vodka was overpowering and it had a strong "alcohol" taste. I feel it needs more Godiva white chocolate and/or heavy cream to make it more palatable.

That's very fun DIZ3. Your drink looks a lot greener than Noir's and thus a lot more festive. I'm not really a fan of Creme de menthe and I'm surprised you could taste the vodka that much. A shame the whole thing spilled. :( Lovely photo!

Well, the idea of this St. Patrick's Day treat put a BIG SMILE on my face! Sorry about your camera DIZ - I have set my own down on a wet counter. I also have issues with steam when I am trying to take photos. I was offering my girlfriend my old camera the other day (2005) when she reminded me that I had bought a tripod for that camera for taking pictures of food. I had totally forgotten about it! Maybe I should keep my old camera in the kitchen!

Your picture looks delicious DIZ. If it wasn’t bad enough that the recipe didn’t taste as good as it looks you spilled it and got it on your camera. Ugghhh! So sorry it wasn’t worth it.

Chuckieb--Thank you! I used green Creme de menthe. They make one that is clear. The clear actually tastes better, but then you don't get the green. I'm guessing Noir probably used chocolate Godiva instead of white chocolate.

MrsJ--Good idea to use your old camera for food photos if it still takes great photos.

    Manella--Thank you!

LindaLMT--Thank you! Mixed drinks are "iffy." Never know which ones you will like or dislike.

Gorgeous photo Diz!! Too bad it splashed all over your camera. I sure hope your camera will be ok!
It sounds like it needs a filler like you say with cream, milk or something to keep it green...Even coffee or Bailey's would be nice too I think. :)

Ugh on you spilling the drink DIZ, totally sounds like something I'd do!! I've never had creme de menth before, but I don't think I'd care for it as I'm not a huge mint fan. I do like fresh mint occasionally in things, actually have a ton of it growing in my garden right now lol. Planted it once and it comes back with a vengeance every year :P Gorgeous picture you got out of it though!!

Cosmicmother--Thank you! Definitely needs something to smooth out the alcohol taste.

Mommyluvs2cook--Thank you! I hate to tell you this, but mint is like a noxious weed. Once it gets started, it will spread and take over. It's hard to kill out.
