    Waldorf Salad Recipe
Made for IMI2's September 2018 "Apple" recipe challenge.

I've never eaten, let alone made, a Waldorf Salad and I have to say they are pretty good and a nice change of pace. I like the combination of naturally sweet, nutty, and, other. I served as a side with grilled burgers.
I opted to use raisins instead of grapes because that's what I had and walnuts instead of pecans, again because that's what I had. Nice change of pace and easy to put together.

It looks great Linda! Wonderful photo!
I've been craving a Waldorf salad lately! The first one I had was in the 90's when I worked in Vancouver. I went to the Tiki Bar at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Because of the tropical theme, they made it with pineapple and coconut. :) I've saved a few recipes on here to try soon too!
This recipe looks good, and I like how it uses fresh lemon juice. :)

Very nice photo, LindaLMT! I love Waldorf salad. Good call with the walnuts. If I'm not mistaken, the original Waldorf Astoria salad used walnuts.

Thanks Shona and DIZ. I don't know much about the original Waldorf salad and see there are so many variations. I'll have to "Google" the original recipe. Love the idea of one with Pineapple and Coconut Shona … does it still have apple, grapes, celery, and nuts?

I recall apple, raisins and walnuts for sure, but not sure if it had celery? I've never been able to recreate it! I've seen some Ambrosia like Waldorf recipes, but some have marshmallows in it-- which I'm sure it didn't have. Or they have pineapple but no coconut etc. There are so many variations on this site too! :)
