Irish Stew and Potato Bread

    I made Jamesj's
    Irish Northern Irish Potato Bread
    and Chef Irish's
    Irish Beef Stew
for my St. Patrick's Day dinner last week. Both were excellent recipes. Jamesj's Potato bread looks denser than mine....mine looked more like a pancake. Perhaps I didn't add enough flour. It had a lovely flavour though and went with the stew really nicely. As he says in his recipe it would be nice as a base for eggs and tomatoes at breakfast time as well.
I'm not a huge stew fan but this recipe was very, very good. It serves 6 and we were only 2 so I really cut things back. I used a pound of stewing beef, but only used about 2 cups of beef broth and 1/2 cup of red wine. I didn't have any Guinness on hand unfortunately. I cut back on all the other ingredients accordingly. The stew has a deep rich gravy. Kudos to both cooks and Thanks!

Sounds good, Chuckie :) Again, the photo appears to be stock photo, so there's a chance that what's in the photo isn't the same as the ingredients, listed... it can make a difference. As usual, though, all that matters is how it turned out for you...sounds like a nice, traditional meal! :)
