Saucy Shrimp And Stone Ground Grits
    Great recipe!

This was a first for me. In Portugal we use grits for baking and thickening winter soups only. I had to make some changes in the saucy shrimp recipe, used chorizo instead of sausage because that is what I had. I have no idea what breakfast sausage is... I bet it is tasty ;)
I also had to replace the old bay seasoning (it is not available in Portuguese supermarkets) by mixed herbs. It was fantastic. I will definitely make it other times. The grits are creamy and so tasty. A new favorite for me.

AAww...no Jimmy Dean??? Oh well, What a recipe! Chorizo is a great sub IMO so I think you did good! Mixed herbs were a great sub too, but do look to see if you can, find some old bay online, it's good stuff ;) I love the ingredients in this and am definitely saving it...yum!

Yes... no Jimmy Dean ;) I guess I should travel to the US and plan a gastronomic trip. There's so many items I can't find here and would love to taste...
I found the old bay on a Spanish site, I will see if they ship to Portugal. Thanks for the tip ;)

I make my own Old Bay Seasoning after finding a recipe online. You wouldn't think it but it's great on home made potato chips.

    1 tbls. ground bay leaves
    2 1/2 tsp. celery salt
    1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
    1 1/2 tsp. black pepper
    3/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. paprika (I prefer sweet)
    1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
    1/4 tsp. ground mace (optional)
    1/4 tsp. ground cardamom (optional)
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
Combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight container.
