Peanut Butter Cup Squares

Recipe by Gapeach55: Peanut Butter Cup Squares
A good peanut butter cup but a little dry in the peanut butter filling. Tastes like a Reese's.
I will try backing off on the sugar and or graham crackers to make the filling stick together better. Plus it's just a little sweet and noticeable in the aftertaste.
For those of you following my clone Reese's research, I liked the shortening added to the chocolate last recipe. It made the chocolate not so hard. SO, I added an extra tablespoon of shortening when melting the chocolate. That makes 3T to a 12oz bag of chocolate. Like the result. Makes the chocolate melt in the mouth quickly just like a Reese's.
    We're getting close.

OK, that one looks easy enough. No paint brush involved. I wonder what would happen if one used butter instead of margarine? I never use margarine. Wonder what butter would do to the texture?

Good catch! I did use unsalted butter. Butter has less water content than oleo.

Oh, OK. Got it. But now I wonder what margarine would do to the texture. Can't please me. :-P

After eating several more of these than I should, I can definitely say to back off on the powdered sugar. It might enhance the peanut butter flavor.
