Sauerkraut Soup Polish Style

    I made Notyourmomma's
    Sauerkraut Souppolish Style
    and it was amazing! I just used dried Shitake mushrooms and I didn't have access to smoked pork neck bones but used a smoked turkey drumstick instead. I didn't have fresh thyme or flat leaf parsley so just used dried and I was feeling all crafty making my first 'bouquet garni' but was much chagrined during the simmering process when some of the peppercorns got loose and I had to pick them all out. Guess I need more practice!
    Hubby and I aren't huge sour cream fans so I tasted the soup before adding the sour cream and I loved it so didn't do that part. If Tina thinks it is an integral part I'll do it next time.
    This is a wonderful comforting soup with loads of flavour. Totally going to become a family favourite in my household!

    Thank you for your kind words, I'm honored. Sour cream is not necessary unless your name is Fred. I like the gentle creamy factor but I also love the full flavor of the soup alone.
