Venison Chili

Off site recipe from Yummly: http://www.yummly.com/recipe/external/Venison-Chili-My-Recipes_1
Had this recipe bookmarked for a while, ever since I received some ground venison. Unfortunately it's all gone so I used ground beef.
Anyone looking at the picture knows I didn't use kidney beans. Pinto beans were in my pantry. Worked well.
No canned beans here. Did a brine soak overnight. Took 1 1/2 hours to simmer up the beans.
Didn't have the dried red chili pepper but did have some ancho chili powder I made up a while back. Used 1 tsp to sub for the red chili powder.
The store made me laugh about tomato puree. It (Walmart) only had one size tomato puree, 56oz! Settled on a 15oz can of tomato sauce. Fortunately the recipe did need the whole can.
Chopped up my own tomatoes instead of buying a can of whole tomatoes.
It's a good chili, lots of good flavor, not too hot for me, so mother will like it.

Just curious what would you rate it in stars? I like Yummly, have browsed recipes there before and do have an account as well! That looks like a good, hearty chili. I would use beef too, but if I could I would use that venison :)

It's a good 5-star recipe. If it was too hot it would only get 4-stars.
I can taste all the flavor nuance when it is not Keni hot.
