Any cookbooks by Vincent Price! :)

Mr. Vincent Price was an excellent cook, and his cookbooks are treasures that I'm privileged to have on my shelf! In many cases, the style of recipe format in the books is rather different from what we're used to these days, so I translate them for a more modern audience.

    The books:
    * "Treasury of Great Recipes"* - originally published in 1965, I think, but apparently was reprinted in 1995 although I've never seen a copy from then. I'll be sharing a few recipes in my account from this book.
    * "Come Into The Kitchen"* - published in 1969, also written with Mary.
    * "A National Treasury of Cookery" - a five volume set. Titles of books are: Recipes of Early America; of the Young Republic; of the Westward Empire; of Ante Bellum America; of Victorian America. They're smallish books, about 5x8 format. Some of the recipes are duplicated in "Come Into The Kitchen."
    * "Cooking Price-Wise" - Mr. Price hosted a British cooking show in the early 1970s called "Cooking Price-Wise" and I managed to get ahold of the slim companion paperback to the show! The photo used for this public cookbook is from the cover.

*You can find both of these pretty easily on EBay - well worth the purchase!”

They ARE well worth it, and you are very lucky to have copies of them! I have a select few recipes (in my now-8-binder, over 35 years collection) and I love them! He really was ahead of his time in gastronomic adventures!

BTW...that binder collection of mine?? It's growing (yet again!) since I joined this site!

Vincent Price! Oh I loved him so. Well still do. Many the Saturday afternoon was spent watching his films as a tot. In fact I still do! I had forgotten about his culinary prowess. Thanks for the reminder. Hmmmm I must check ebay.....
