Feelin' Fine Friday! :)

Good Morning Everybody! My Ottawa Senators won last night! HURRAY! It's so hard to watch! Such pressure!!!! LOL! I include three pics of my Sens shrine below. Next game tomorrow night. GO SENS GO!

Linda....thinking of you and hoping you're doing okay.

Jim and I have our workout to do before breakfast. We were supposed to get a lot of rain overnight but it didn't happen.

I put a chicken in brine last night to make
    Lemon Rosemary Brined Roast Chicken
for dinner this evening. Just have to think of sides.

Not sure what we're up to today. I do need to make a run into Costco for a few supplies and some more birdseed.

    Wishing everyone a great Friday!

A cool looking shrine, Janet. I see what you mean about the flags they look great. It was a good game! We didn't get any rain last night either. Your dinner sounds great. Good luck with your errands and deciding what to do today.

My back is killing me again. I guess it is another calcium chip stuck in my spine. I hope it goes away soon. Den said he would finish up the back yard tomorrow for me. Den will have his normal rib eye steak and oven fries and it is too early for me to decide what I am going to have.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Hey everyone, I had the craziest day yesterday from the second I got up. On top of the usual crazy, Roxy had a large hot spot on her back. So I thought, hey, this isn't so bad she can't reach it to lick it and make it worse. So I went to the pet store and got some natural remedy's, a spray, some vitamins, some raw food food and fresh food. Spent a fortune! Then on to do some human food shopping, come home and she's absolutely covered in swollen, red, oozing, bleeding welts. I hopped her in the tub to wash her with this medicated wash meant for hot spots, but in the bath I noticed more on her belly etc..so I immediately called the vet and they got me in right away...still wet...lol. So back into town we go, now Roxy does not like my car at all. She hates car rides in general. So the poor thing would not get in. I got her in the back seat and she panicked the whole drive there. (Now my black upholstery and carpeted backseat is covered in white dog hair!) The only other time she's ever had a hot spot was in February, and the only thing she had in common both times was a dip in the scummy pond water followed by a bath. Thankfully he doesn't think it's food related. It might be the pond water, but since we bathed her right after it sounds more likely it was the soap we used. Since February was the last time she had a bath, I suspect the soap too. She's on an anti-itch medicine and some antibiotics now, and has to wear a giant cone on her head. She has partially shaved fur all over and looks so bad, poor baby dog. I was using Burt Bees shampoo on her before, I thought it was all natural, but maybe it has something she's allergic to in it? The vet said she most likely has sensitive skin too, and it looked really dry. Some dogs react just to the bath itself. I'm going to give her fish oils everyday to help with her skin, and hopefully she won't react like this again! I barely had time to get back to pick up the kids from school, then clean up the mess I left from the earlier in the day. Thankfully we had leftover soup in the fridge for dinner!
Tonight's dinner is chicken with roasted potatoes and a salad.

Hi Janet, Hi Joce! I gotta run the kids to school now, so I'll be right back :)

Have a great day everyone! :)

Yeah, for the Sens win. Brined chicken, especially lemon brined is lovely, Janet. Save your strength for next play off game.

Joce, sorry your back is so sore. I hope you get some relief soon. Be kind to yourself.

Sherida is in town for her 50th high school reunion. She went out with Allison for dinner and drinks yesterday. I wasn't invited to join them because Sherida is a yuge trump supporter. So sisterhood matters not when political views collide. I'm not one to argue with Sherida over him but the feeling is not reciprocal. Life is too short to lose family over politics, or so I thought.

Olivia brought home fresh chorizo, chipotles peppers in adobo, a turkey tenderloin. So I believe I'll make drunken beans, turkey tacos with chipotles crema and chorizo fundido with chips for supper. Cinco de Mayo a week early. Scotty fixed the sprinkler system yesterday, he deserves a home made supper. We should have margaritas! :-)

Olivia filled the fruit bowl and I promised to clean and cut up fruit for her. Pineapple, blueberries, strawberries and a honeydew.

Laundry needs to be folded. It never seems to end.

    Happy Friday! :-)

Hi Janet, when I make that chicken I like to serve it with lemon-rosemary potatoes. Or a rice pilaf with lot's of veggies, a little lemon juice, olive oil and herb dressing. Or just a big Caesar or Greek salad in the warmer months :) Oh My! That is quite the Sen's shrine!! Lol, you're such a die hard fan, the Sens should be proud! :D

Sorry your back hurts Joce. Knowing the sharp pain the calcium chips have in my shoulder, it must exceptionally worse on the spine! I really hope it feels better soon! xx

Hi Tina, wow, now that's a feast! Yum!
Good grief on the political-family drama. Politics should definitely be left off the table and shouldn't be an issue when visiting people, my goodness! Sorry that's happening to you!

OMG! Shona! There is never a dull moment at your house! I hope all those nasty things go away quickly for her.
How weird of Sherida, Tina! Life is too short to lose family over politics, is so right! She might grow up and be mature one day we hope. Very nice of Liv to bring home all those goodies. Great to hear the sprinkler system is working again thanks to Scotty. I love fresh fruit! Good luck with the laundry.

Correction....we did get rain. I guess I slept soundly enough and didn't hear it. Jim had put out our rain barrel yesterday and when he looked in it this morning it was FULL!

Oh goodness Joce. A calcium chip stuck in your spine sounds horrible painful. Poor you. Try cuddle up with a heating pad and find as comfortable position as you can. :( Yum on Den's steak.

I have never heard of these hot spots on dogs Shona. Poor Roxy! That sounds awful! Your dinner sounds wonderful. Have a quieter more calm day today okay? :)

Aw Tina....sorry Sherida is acting badly. :( Liv brought home good goodies! Your plans sound lovely for them. Jim makes a killer Marguerita. I'll send him over. :) Good luck with the laundry.

Hi Bren! Those sides sound yummy. Thanks for the ideas!

Jim and I survived our workout and then I made a yummy breakfast sandwich with these neat rectangular bagel buns I bought at Costco. Scrambled egg and ham with melted cheese. They were most deelish.

Our car is making a weird noise when we steer to the left. Jim thinks it's something to do with power steering fluid. Heading to the mechanic's. Wish us luck. Ugh.

I can't make fundido without cheese!!! Dog gone. I'm going to try the charro beans in the pressure cooker.

Send us the rain, please. FLORIDA is burning.
Good luck with car and funny noise.

Sherida is 69 going on 12. She is very set in her ways. We are not close and it is very sad. She liked my husband better and likes Olivia better. So maybe it's me that's the issue.

I've never had fundido ever Tina. And I love the name of it. :) It is Sherida's loss if the two of you aren't close, because you my dear, are a delight.

Got the movie "Fences" starring Denzel Washington from the library to watch this evening. I love Denzel Washington. Picked up some haddock at Costco. It was crazy busy in there! So indeed we have a leak in something (LOL....see how close I pay attention) that had indeed caused the power steering fluid to be low. So our mechanic topped us up and told us to pick up some sort of "Stop leak" stuff that might soften some gasket that might in turn cause the power steering fluid to quit leaking out. If not, a rebuilt something or other will cost about $300-$400. Sigh. I hate car repair bills.

Hi all!!! Sorry I haven't been on for a couple days, it's just non-stop around here! We are trying to get a bunch of fundraisers set up for softball all at the same time, and it's a lot of work, running around and getting things, getting flyers ready, laminating them, setting up for photos, trying to be organized, getting everything to the parents, and making a TON of phone calls. We have State coming up and we are trying to get all the costs covered, but I get the hard part of the job :( Oh well!

Dinner tonight will be shrimp something. Have a busy tournament weekend ahead of us, and tomorrow is mine and Michael's 10th anniversary so we are going to try and squeeze in a lunch or dinner with just the 2 of us. We'll see! Hope everyone's week has gone well, have a good day!!

Pace yourself and remember to take some "Michelle" time Michelle. :) That's exciting that the team is going to compete in State. Is that how I would say it? I'm guessing you play different tournaments and eventually the farther you go, the more teams you'd play across the state and then there is one best team? Shrimp something sounds wonderful. Wow on it being your's and Michael's 10th wedding Anniversary. Congratulations. That's lovely.

Good afternoon everyone. Oh my gosh, that was quite the game. I love the pics of the shrine. I went to save that recipe but see that I already have, lol. I really must get to that one day soon. I hope that "stop leaks" works for you, car repairs are so expensive.

That sounds so very painful, Joce. I hope that it moves on quickly. I really do laugh every time you mention Den's Friday night steak.

I'm exhausted just reading about your day Shona. I'm no expert but could it be a bacterial infection? I remember a few of mine having that after swimming in the river. Their fur fell out in chunks and there were welts everywhere. I hope that she feels better soon and that you get some much deserved rest.

Good grief Tina, some people never grow up. What a great selection of fruit, enjoy. I've never heard of those dishes but love the names.

Busy, busy, busy Michelle. From past experiences I find that one person usually does the majority of the work. Try and take some me time.

Not much new here for which I am thankful. I did a grocery run this aft and I'm happy to have that over with. Dinner will be baked chicken breasts with mashed potatoes and turnip and a salad.

Good afternoon to all. It's a stifling 93F here today. Not sure what the humidity is but certainly feels "sticky". Was nice and cool over the weekend so I guess we have headed right into summer. Closed up the house and turned the AC on last night so no doubt the days of open windows are done for awhile. Love the Sens shrine Janet! Hope the stop leak fixes the car problem. Sorry your back is hurting again Joce. Hope you get some relief soon. Poor Roxy indeed! Hope you had a much less eventful day today Shona. Lemon-Rosemary potatoes sound delightful Bren. I bet they would go great with that chicken. I agree with Janet Tina, it's Sherida's loss because you are a lovely, caring and delightful person! I remember tournament weekends well with my kids. Totally consuming! Hope you and Michael are able to steal away for at least a nice lunch together Michelle. Happy Anniversary!

Think we are just winging it for dinner here tonight. Have plenty of food in the fridge and pantriy and even some leftover steak. Might make up another fresh salad. Really hit the spot last night.

Enjoy the rest of the day all!

Hi Bren! Your dinner sounds yummy. My Mom used to serve turnip a lot but I never do. Can't even remember the last time I bought one and I think I'd like it better now than when I was a child.

Holy Smokes at 93F Kimmer. Can't imagine how hot your temps will be come July!!!! Enjoy your evening.

The chicken is golden brown on the rotisserie. Just came in from a Hot Tub. It's been a nice day. After lunch I went down to Jim's workshop and made some fairy garden furniture. It was a lot of fun. I made three chairs and three tables. Adult craft time. :)

    Home!

We all left a day early because a severe line of storms is due in. Hail, rain, the works. We packed up, headed home and luckily J was not flooded. The last estimate for weekend total was anywhere from 5 to 8 inches. Start time is around 9 or 10 tonight. Last night a preview hit and the winds rocked the RV. Would not like to be in bad windstorm.

Goodness on the political problem. I am an avid Trump supporter but see no reason to discuss it among family or friends who disagree. We just find other things to discuss.

We have lots of rain and will gladly share. The ground is saturated and the expected storm is supposed to result in flash floods.

    Hope Roxy is better.

    "Me time is good, Michelle."

Hi to everyone. If we don't get washed away will see you later.
