The fear of the number 13 has been given a scientific name: "triskaidekaphobia"; and on analogy to this the fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskevidekatriaphobia, from the Greek words Paraskeví (Παρασκευή, meaning "Friday"), and dekatreís(δεκατρείς, meaning "thirteen").[1] Also Black Friday.
According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, an estimated 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day, making it the most feared day and date in history. Some people are so paralyzed by fear that they avoid their normal routines in doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed. "It's been estimated that [US]$800 or $900 million is lost in business on this day".[6] Despite this, representatives for both Delta Air Lines and now-defunct Continental Airlines have stated that their airlines do not suffer from any noticeable drop in travel on those Fridays.[17]
In Finland, a consortium of governmental and nongovernmental organizations led by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health promotes the National Accident Day, which always falls on a Friday 13th.[18]
Lol I don't have a fear of Friday the thirteenth but when I went into labour for my son on June 13th I refused to go to the hospital until after midnight and he was indeed born on June 14th. It is still raining and yet another dreary dark day.

Karen, I hope your high winds have settled down. We are starting to get some high winds as well.

Den will have a rib eye steak with oven fries and I am not sure yet what I am going to have yet. Not much happening here. I am going to hunker in again today. Lol rain rain go away come again some other day! I wish I could send it to Marie and all the other places that really need it!

I'll be helping Rick today..sigh...he has a commercial spring job to do..the springs are huge and the door is 10' high. So that's considered a commercial job, taller door and bigger springs:) That's all he has scheduled for today, but that can change:)

I don't have a clue what's for dinner!

Thanks for the info., very interesting. Hubs comes from southern Italy and the numbers 13 and 37 are considered lucky there. I have no idea why.

LOL, about going into labour on Friday the 13th and waiting. The 13th doesn't bother me but I may have done the same thing if I had a choice.

I made another batch (but new recipe) of hot pepper jelly - it made 5 1.2 pts but if I had sterilized a sixth one it would have filled it. However, I had a pint jar instead. Ah well, it was good on creamed cheese on toast.

Am looking for a recipe for pickled banana peppers minus sugar. I ran into one that only used vinegar and garlic, but it disappeared from where ever it was located when I went to look it up this morning. Now my canner has to cool so I can dump the water -- the spigot is not working for some reason. No problem, it will cool and I can dump it and clean the electric canner easily enough.

Hi all! Went to the FM today and then we had T-ball practice. Dinner was leftovers. Probably won't be popping in tomorrow as we have our fundraising event and it 4 hours then a T-ball game shortly after...going to be a long day! May be going out to eat fro dinner with my dad after the game OR inviting him back here for tamales, I guess we will see how I feel after being in the dugout with 12 rambunctious kids :) About to sit down and watch the movie "The Gift" it had 94% from rotten tomatoes so it should be good! Hope everyone had a good day :)
