Friday's Fragrant Kitchen....

  • chuckieb 6 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! I had a huge pot of Chicken broth set to simmer on the stovetop by 8:15 this morning and already the house is filled with the delicious fragrance of chicken soup. :) Jim says we should make a batch every single day so the house smells like this all the time. LOL!

The Instant Pot craze continues!!!! Saw online yesterday that the Ottawa Libraries are giving live demos of Instant Pots at seven of the local libraries in the area over the next month. I've never heard of that before!!!! Two of them are being given by the author of the book "How to Instant Pot". His name is Daniel Shumski.

    What a hoot!

Had to grin Laurie when you said "I can always tell if he doesn’t like something because he doesn’t have seconds". Jim is the same way plus, he'll be quiet. Usually he's quite complimentary but if he doesn't comment on the meal it means he didn't like it and then I have to ask and pry out of him what it is he didn't care for. LOLOLOL.

Laid back day today. We're going to get our Travel Insurance sorted out and I may even start to pack a bit. Thinking of making Porkchops with Sauerkraut and Pearl Barley for dinner tonight but plans may change.

Joce, are you feeling any better at all?

    Wishing everyone a great Friday!

    Good Morning Everyone.

Nice start to the day. Clear blue sky, cool, sunny ... Still have not adjusted to Daylight Savings and we have been getting up much later because of it.

I've always said wouldn't it be nice if they made chicken soup, or pot roast, or pasta sauce scented candles (LOL!) The house always smells so good when you cook savory comfort meals. That's too funny about Instant Pot demos at the library Janet. I think if I got to see and taste a demo it might be the pushing point for me to get one. Either that or if I knew for sure DH would eat what I made.

Will go to the gym this afternoon and that's about it. The dashcam I bought needs an SD card update and trying to figure it out is a royal pain. They sent directions but still. It shouldn't be this hard not to mention everything is so tiny that I have to wear two pair of glasses just to see.
Not sure about dinner just yet. Think I'll grill DH a steak tonight and make me stuffed cabbage.

Good Morning Linda! I would totally buy a chicken soup scented candle. That's a fantastic idea. Go you heading to the gym. Ugh on having to figure out more technology. I hate that stuff. Good luck. Your dinner plans sound great.

I've been sucked into Ancestry all morning. Got to remove myself from the chair.

    Good morning Janet and Linda.

I like scented candles —— cherry, linen, lavender, cinnamon, even apple pie,but have not seen chicken soup! LOL!

The rain went north....grrr! We need it. Well, a light sprinkle went over but it barely dampened the ground.

The guys are working on redoing the laundry room. Trouble hangs around, meows, sniffs everything, goes out, comes in, cries for attention....silly cat. Fritz is dozing in Wayne’s recliner and Mel is getting his beauty sleep on the bed.

I have two pumpkin bread loaves, with black walnuts, in the oven. Made chicken salad with green grapes and English walnuts for lunch. The dishwasher is running. Have a load of kitchen towels ready to put in the washer but don’t want to toss them in for fear it disturbs the guys as they work. They don’t need to be jumping up every other minute so I can get by. They are working on a pantry style cabinet as you walk into the porch landing. We plan on putting a cabinet / wardrobe kind of addition, an above the washer czbinet, and maybe an upper one over the litter box area. Maybe. The linen closet will be accessed thru the bathroom and requires cutting an opening in the side wall. We will turn 90 yo before it is done.

The laundry room will be nice when it's done. Love organized storage and having the set up for it and the closets/cabinets seem like it will do that for you.
Throw the towels in for laundering later ... even if they sit before drying towels are very forgiving that way.
We too are now in a "dry" warning for fires. If one starts it can spread quickly because not only is the plant matter dry but we are not having rain and the humidity is very low.
Pumpkin bread sounds wonderful and I bet your house smells good too! Your chicken salad sounds delicious!

Wow on the 'dry warning' Linda. Already!

So we decided to go out for lunch to our favourite pub, "The Cheshire Cat". I had an awesome burger with a bowl of Cheddar Ale soup on the side and Jim had Hot Beef in Yorkshire pudding. Obviously there's no way we're going to want a full dinner so we'll probably just heat up some sipping broth and have some appys. It was a fun afternoon. We got our trip insurance all set to go and we're ticking things off the list. Yay.

Cheddar ale soup would be great. Your virtual pumpkin bread is on the way.

We are in a high fire risk also. The few sprinkles are not helping.

Puppy is in his puppy play pen after rambunctious rampaging all over the house. For our sanity and his safety....Trouble is showing hostility by growling at him. Poor baby is oblivious to her warnings. Mel sniffed and finally swatted him, claws in, when he acted too wild. Fritz got between them but I think he was horsing around, not intervening.
