Friday's Friday

Good Afternoon Everyone! Hope you all have a great start to the weekend.

How is your daughter today Karen? Happy to hear her surgery went well yesterday and am hoping to hear more good news today.

The muffins I made yesterday Joce were not my normal type ... these were cake like and more like dessert. I usually make a hearty/healthy muffin when I make them. Wish there was a way to keep them good thru the next day or two. Nothing seems to be as nice as when they are fresh made. Your pizza for dinner last night sounded good. Love pizza!

And too love a pot of sauce with meatballs simmering Bren. My mom made sauce and meatballs every Sunday when we were growing up. I have the "spaghetti" dish now ... a big ole oval bowl/platter with flowers on it that she would fill with pasta and meatballs. I believe it was her mothers. Sadly though that it is hardly ever used now.

Slowly but surely you'll catch Michelle ... I think if you ever did catch up you wouldn't know what to do (big smiles). Nice score at the Old Navy store.

I got a much needed hair cut and color this morning. Think I'll pull out a package of chix breast for dinner and do something with it on the grill.
That's about it here for now.

Anyone have an idea when we might see Janet back home?

Hi Linda! Still morning here, starting with my first cup of coffee now ;) I'm the same with muffins, I like them to be hearty and packed with healthy stuff!

Welcome home Michelle! Wow, such good deals at Old Navy! I just did a big on-line shopping trip with them, they do those cash back sales. So I have $40 dollars to spend again next week, and I'll get myself a jacket. They had 60% off most kids clothes, but I know the in-store deals can be much better. I remember buying a sweater a couple years ago for .90cents, lol ;) We start school Sept. 1st. but I know you get out of school a couple weeks before us, I think I'd like that better!

Not much happening today, as of yet. We finally got our super duper, incredible, lightning speed, fast internet installed yesterday! He had to repair the old damaged lines at the main box. He said they were all corroded. I can't believe how instantaneous the internet is. (And it would be way faster if we had 5g capable devices, right now all our devices only work on 2.5 g networks)
I tried going to AR thinking it would work better with the faster speed. I was so excited to have it work--but -nope-not that much faster. I read an article recently that the President basically said they are catering to the Millennial generation, knowing they would lose some of the older generations to the changes. I like this quote from the author of the article " As Allrecipes’ post-redesign success shows, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. Alienating some existing users is a risk many brands are willing to take if it means attracting the coveted 18 to 34-year-old market" http://www.geekwire.com/2016/seven-months-later-allrecipes-millennial-focused-redesign-attracts-more-users-and-mixed-reviews/
Obviously efforts of the many loyal users to try and get them to change the site are wasting their time, I feel bad for them....I knew AR would never go back, but I thought the slowness would be fixed by now. I told Nancy I would love to do the Allstar program again if I got faster internet. But it seems like internet is not the problem....:(

I'm not sure what to make for dinner yet, I have some ground beef or chicken breasts that I can cook.... Thinking taco's, or maybe some Thai chicken stir fry....will see how the weather is doing and decide from there.

Have a great day everyone!! :)

I usually make blueberry muffins or banana chocolate chip muffins, Linda. You could freeze your muffins if you want to keep them longer. I do that sometimes. You grandmother,s pasta bowl/ platter sounds like it is really nice and it also brings back good memories too! Good luck at the hairdresser. I aways feel better when my hair is done. Grilled chicken breast sounds great to me! Janet said she would be gone for 3 weeks so she may be home by the end of next week or more. Maybe she will get to the Library so she can check in today.
How is your daughter doing today, Karen? I hope everything went well and she is home recuperating today.
Michelle, You scored some great deals for the kids. Wow! your kids go back to school early! Ours go back after Labour Day.
Once again I am staying close to home today. It gets so busy here b/c of the tourists, boaters, and cottagers. I just stay away from the maddening crowd. I am getting things off the top of my fridge away so we can pull it out and clean and paint behind it. We have a bunch of things to get ready before we get someone in to do the kitchen floor. It will be messy when it is being done as there is a corner hutch full of cookbooks to be emptied as well. Den brought home some boxes so I can fill them before moving the hutch out of the way. We are having grilled rib eye steaks for dinner tonight. Den will have his steak with oven fries and I will have mine with sauteed mushrooms, a baked potato, and a salad. I better go make some lunch and then get started packing things up.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Good afternoon everyone. I'm not very adventurous with muffins Linda, it's almost always banana. That sounds like a lovely dish and even though you don't use it often it's nice to have something that's been in the family for years. Chicken on the grill sounds good to me.
Great news on the internet Shona. I remember shopping for the children at Old Navy and you can't beat their prices. My daughter worked there as a student for a bit. Chicken stir fry sounds wonderful. We are looking at Ikea cabinets and wondered what you thought of yours?
That sounds like a lot of work Joce but it will be worth it in the end. Dinner sounds great.
We will be staying close to home this weekend, the weather forecast isn't pleasant. We need to shop for two appliances so will probably do that tomorrow. Not much new here. MIL has been at her new retirement home for a week and is very unhappy. Dinner will be grilled salmon and a big salad.

Hi Joce! I'm like you and stay away from the crowds! What kind of floor are you getting? I just got my Hutch back in order, crazy how many bins I used--I never thought it would all fit back in there, lol ;) Don't work yourself too hard today :)

Hi Bren, we LOVE our Ikea cabinets!!! They are so easy to install, my brother says he likes installing them over any other pre-fab cabinet's. All the doors are soft closing, and we opted to have the Maximara drawers instead of the Forvara drawers as the Ma are soft closing--We kept the Fo drawers on the Pantry (by mistake) and you can tell the quality difference. Our only regret is not putting the pull out organizer in the 47" inch corner cabinet. It's so deep and hard to reach things. The other corner cab is a 36" carousel, and that works great. But the deeper corner is difficult. I tried to save money so I scrapped the $140 pull out organizer, but I think that would have been money well spent. We got the Grimslov off-white doors, and love them too, excellent quality and super easy to clean! Oh, and go when they have their kitchen event, it happens two or three times a year. We bought ours at the event back in March-April... I think they just had another one, maybe it depends on each store?

Hope your daughter's surgery went well Karen :)

Thanks for the info Shona, exactly what I was looking for. The Grimslov is the style that we like. I haven't seen the pull out organizer but I'll have a look the next time that I'm there. Shhh, don't tell anyone but the next event will begin in October. We'll probably put the house on the market in a few years so we're starting to update it.

You're welcome Bren :) I love the grey cab's they have too, but it would be too dark for our small kitchen. The off-white looks very white to me, and you can barely notice the difference between the white bases and off-white doors. We bought the cover panels to cover the open sides of the pantry and upper cabinet, but we really don't need it. We're mostly installing them to cover the slight gaps from the "not so flat" walls. Thanks for the info on the Kit-event! I won't tell ;) I might go and get another upper cabinet. I left space to have open shelves, but my brother thinks I should put a matching cabinet there instead, for re-sale value. We don't plan to sell yet, but it's always in the back of my mind. Once I finish a house, I like to look for my next project, lol ;) I might buy their appliances at the Kit-event too...I'm pretty sure they are all Whirlpool, but without the logo?

I loved the cab. with the wood finish but there isn't enough natural light in our kitchen so I'm going with the off white. Your welcome, it's supposed to start at the beginning of Oct but I've read that if you have a membership, it's free, there is a 30 day price guarantee. So you could buy in Sept when it isn't as busy and go back and get a refund. I thought about open shelving on either side of the range hood, it's huge, or floating shelves but DH doesn't like the idea. I've finally decided to leave it blank and go with decorative tiles.
LOL, you sound like me. We have reno'd so many houses. The house that we live is the only one that we built and that was 24 years ago.

Ugh, another day where I'm not able to get on here until the evening :) Slept in a bit today, started out lazy, but then started doing some cleaning, and more laundry (booooo) and made some enchiladas with homemade enchilada sauce and some salsa verde from tomatillos to go with it. Turned out delicious! Then it was time for Caiden's first soccer practice and it was cute and he had tons of fun. I'm so glad he liked it as he hated T-ball lol. It was a lot of standing around and waiting as opposed to chasing a ball non-stop, so I can see how he'd like it more :)

So here I am :) Read through everyone's posts and it looks like everything is going well. Yum on your muffins Linda, I agree that muffins fresh out of the oven are the best!

Lol Shona, 2 of the shirts I bought from Old Navy rang up .68 cents!! I left there feeling like I should go back in and dig more, but I didn't have time. No, internet is not the problem with AR, I could have told you that a long time ago, but actually the last couple times I have gone there it does seem a tad bit faster, or maybe I'm just more patient? lol!

I'd stay home too Joce with all the crowds, must be crazy!!

Hi Bren, wow looks like Old Navy has worked out cheaply for everyone! It will definitely be my go-to back to school shopping place now, I just can't believe the deals!!

Probably won't be here tomorrow or at least until evening once again. We have a tournament all day. Our team is hosting it and it's called "Team Kaylee Benefit Tournament" It's for a little girl who play’s softball here in Santa Fe who has cancer. Usually whichever team hosts the tournament the entry fee’s would go to that team. But we are going to donate all the money to this little girls family for medical expenses. Here is the flyer: https://www.eteamz.com/sfgirlssoftballleague/files/flyerTeamKaylee(1).pdf
It’s $175 entry fee per team so we should make a good amount :) Should be at least 20-40 teams in all age groups. Bri is excited because she get’s to help run the concession stand in between games lol. Repeat day on Sunday. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

    Hi.
It has been a long day.
Took daughter home....she is doing well. One stent remains. Every six months she has to go in for a checkup for stones. Picked up her dog from the vet....silly dog was happy to stay and happy to one home.

Went to get eggs and before I could reach into the nest realized a snake was in it. Hollered for Wayne and he dispatched it. It had already eaten a bunch of eggs. It was about four feet long and threatened to bite when he walked up.

Fritz had a shorter walk tonight. Wayne got to the gate only to see a mama raccoon and three babies about fifty fee away. Fortunately Fritz did not see them.

    Have a good evening, everyone.
