Fruit Loop Friday!

Good Morning Everyone! It is another snowy gray morning here in the Ottawa Valley. -10C/14F and surprise, surprise the school buses are running today and we have no Weather Alert. :)

Jim is meeting a friend for coffee this morning and I`m going to go along for the ride and bop around some stores while he`s conversing. :) I`ve got Bean with Bacon soup for lunch. It turned out really well as always, and I`m just going to make some Pasta (Fazoletti) and sauce for dinner this evening and maybe a side salad.

I came across this photo of a cake decorated with fruit loops. I despise fruit loops but I think the cake is awesome.

Wishing everyone a great day. It`s Friday!!!!! :) Even though I`m retired I still like the weekends. LOL.

    Good Morning Everyone.

The fruit loops do make a pretty cake Janet. I use to eat fruit loops when I was a kid, I ate all the sugar laden cereals, but I know I couldn't them today, the only exception would be Captain Crunch even though it's not as good as it use to be.
Enjoy your bop around the stores today. I see you posted your Duck recipe, it looks GREAT!!

I love beef stew Joce and love eating it with big fluffy dumplings. How did yours turn out? Do you make dumplings? I too love thunderstorms, especially at night. I'm lucky the storms do not bother LD in the least.

Finally, DH and I went to our amenity center gym yesterday and the grocery store after. I had frozen meatball mix in the freezer and wanted to use it up and make pasta sauce. Had some leftover bulk Italian sausage in the freezer too and added that and surprise! I made the best pasta sauce. I wasn't that thrilled with the meatball mix and knew next time I made it I would need to tweak it. Adding the sausage was the tweak it needed and a few dashes of herbs. Even the ratio of sauce to ground meats was perfect. I had a nice bowl of pasta last night for dinner and wouldn't mind the same again tonight.

    Cleaning today. Vacuuming and dusting.

House is vacuumed and I'm almost finished dusting. Taking a little break. I have to laugh … LD drags just about every toy out of his box when I vacuum and runs around the house leaving them all over the place making a "doggie obstacle course" for me to vacuum around.

Hmmm on fruit loops, Janet. The cereal in England is not so over sweet and is made with real flavoring, not the chemical laden stuff in the states. I read that somewhere and for some reason it stuck in my brain. Now if important items were stay instead of silly trivia, I would have it made! Ha ha!

So cute LD scattering his toys for you to vacuum around, Linda. Beef and noodles, or chicken and dumplings, are yum!

It was 12F this morning, is 32F now. Tomorrow will be cold. Tuesday thru Thursday will be bitter cold....Wednesday is chemo day.

I threw together a pasta for lunch. Was going to boil up some chicken but it had gone bad in the refrigerator so used diced ham, pasta, cream cheese, Velveeta threads (bought by mistake), cream, diced green onion, yellow onion pieces, garlic, pepper. No complaints and his buddy had seconds so I guess it was all right with the guys! No ideas for dinner.

Probably will stop at WalMart Sunday to get a few items and some kitty litter. That is the sum total of life here. Not very exciting. Mauser is on my lap. She blends in with the zebra striped throw. Fritz elected to lay down in his bed beside the stove. I could use a nap!

    Have a great day everyone.

Sounds like a typical winter day Karen. Not much to do when it's cold outside other than the usual. A trip to Walmart sounds fun. I love browsing and can always find something to buy even if it's something small.

Cool cake, Janet! I never cared for sugary cereals at all when I was a kid and I can't imagine what they might taste like now. Enjoy your little jaunt and I hope Jim enjoys his coffee with his friend.

The stew came out really good, Linda. No, we don't care for dumplings with either stew or chicken. There is something about the texture we don't like. I just omitted the potato in the stew and we had mashed with the stew on the side. Lol LD sounds like he is playing some sort of vacuum game with you:)

What are Velveeta threads, Karen? Just threads of Velveeta in a package like the grated cheddar cheese packages? Glad Waynes' buddy enjoyed his lunch.

Not much happening here today again. We might have leftover stew? Not sure at the moment.

    Wishing everyone a great day.

Mashed potatoes are great with stews and such Joce. I too usually leave potato out because I either make mashed, dumplings, noodles, or eat with bread and that's enough carbs to make me happy.

Turned out to be a nice day here. Cool so I have two windows cracked to let fresh air in. Even got the most of the master bathroom cleaned, still need to wash the floor.

I'm not at all hungry. Had beef barley soup for lunch and I'm still full. I'll make myself a salad for dinner so I get vegetables in for the day and I'll make DH one of his frozen chix cordon blu things with salad and rice.

Joce, Velveeta threads are exactly that...like grated cheese in a bag like the cheddar etc.. Wayne picked one up so he probably just grabbed the wrong one. We don’t use Velveeta, some day will make the homemade recipe for it on GR.

Mashed potatoes are good with stew, Linda. We like the fluffy dumplings but I seldom make them.

It hit 40F outside, higher than they said. Maybe the front was slower in moving in.

Linda, I don`t care for dumplings myself, the fluffy kind, served with stew. I think it`s a texture thing. Count me in on the thunder storm love. :) Good for you getting to the gym yesterday. I got my 10,000 steps in today finally for the first time this week! Yum on your pasta sauce. It sounded wonderful.

Hilarious @ Velveeta threads Karen. I tried to google it but couldn`t find it.

Beef stew is a hearty winter meal Joce. Stay warm!

I had a very fun day. Went to the Eco-friendly store `Terra 20` for the first time. SO much to look at. Just bought a bag of organic popcorn with Sriracha dust and a beautiful bar of soap (brand Buck-Naked) LOL `Start the Coffee` for Jim`s sister`s Stocking stuffer parcel come December. :) Also got her a `Muskoka Pine` candle at Chapters so my Christmas shopping is officially underway. LOL.

Poked about in The Linen Chest and Michaels and then ended up at the Book store. Bought myself a beautiful new cookbook on sale for $10. `La Tartine Gourmande` by Beatrice Peltre. She`s got a website too.

The photos and food presentation are gorgeous.

We went for lunch at the Kanata Noodle House and both Jim and I ordered the Beef and chicken Vermicelli bowl. The portions are huge though so we brought the leftovers home and will just eat it up for dinner.

Skipping a hot tub again as there was a nasty cold wind blowing. In by the fire getting cozy now.
