Fruity Friday!

Good Morning Everyone! It's an overcast, rainy Friday morning. It's the day before my birthday :) and Jim wants to head into town to finish shopping. I'm going to go along and go amuse myself somewhere while he shops. I'm also going to pick up some fun foodie things to have on hand for celebrating tomorrow. We're not doing anything special per se. Want to go out for lunch to a new Indian restaurant that has opened up and perhaps do BBQ steak for dinner.

I'd recently sent two dozen chocolate covered strawberries to a cousin of mine who turned 90 last month from Edible Arrangements. At the beginning of April they had sent me an email saying because it was my birthday this month I was eligible for a free 12 pc. chocolate covered fruit box and just had to call my nearest location and give them a code and then pick up my present. We have two stores in the area and they're both about 45 min. from me. But...I thought it'd be fun, I've never tasted their products, plus it'd be a waste if I didn't use the coupon IMHO! :) So I called one of the stores yesterday, to be told that the code I gave them did not work and that I should call the Head Office. Slightly annoyed, I did that. Long story short, I was on the phone with the Head Office for 26 minutes. They couldn't find me in their system, I had to repeat my email address a few times and at one point the woman actually said "I don't think you're lying or anything". LOLOLOL. It was awful. So finally at the end the woman from Head Office comes back on the phone and tells me that the code is valid and I should call the store back and tell them that. I was so unimpressed. What was initially a really great Promotional idea, really went south fast. I replied that I felt that she should probably call the store and sort it out and call me when they had it all settled. So sure enough, about ten minutes later I received a call from the store, saying my fruit box would be ready for pick up this morning at 11:00. Holy Kamoly. I'll let you know how it tastes later. :)

Our TV set top box quit working last night so we called Bell who tried to trouble shoot to no avail and they arranged to send a workman out to take a look. He's here now. Says it looks like the connection from the satellite dish to the house has been breached (I'm guessing a squirrel chewed through it?). Jim is outside overseeing right now. Crossing my fingers they get it all fixed up. I think Jim's going to have to re-bury the cable once all is said and done. Thank heavens he takes care of all this kind of stuff usually. I hate making those kinds of calls.

Going to make Butter Chicken for dinner this evening. It's supposed to rain most of the day and then get a bit cooler for the next few days. Sunny tomorrow though which I appreciate.

How's your nose feeling this morning Linda? Hope you don't get a black eye. That sometimes happens when your nose gets smacked.

Happy Earth Day Everyone! Am enjoying the Google Doodles. :)

    Good Morning Everyone!
Happy Early Birthday Janet. You'll enjoy your Edible Arrangement. I've gotten them as gifts and the fruit is quality. Haven't had their chocolate covered Strawberries yet but oh what a sweet treat they should be. Hope everything with your tv cable gets resolved. Nose is sore but at least I'm not black and blue.

The Geek Squad guy is here setting up our computers. He's still working on my DH's stuff.

Not sure what will be for dinner tonight. I have stuff I can pull out of the freezer and thaw quick enough by soaking it in cold water, then grill, and I have plenty of fresh veggies. Perhaps I'll pull out the pork loin.

Nothing much else happening here. Hope everyone has a great day!

    Good morning.

Glad you have computers going, Linda.

Same for you and satellite Janet. Wayne bumped our dish and the guy had to retain it. Seems like hubbies are rough on them .... LOL!

Silver Dollar City was great. The Polish Dance troop performed a series of regional dances all brilliantly costumed. Ecuador Manta was fantastic as always. We listened to the Homestead Pickers, an Ozark bluegrass, gospel, etc. group. All in all it was a good afternoon.

Wayne's buddy is here and they are going to work on the carriage house. I have laundry going and need to make some egg salad for lunch. No tripe, just toss it together.

Fritz was wild this morning. He finally settled enough to go outside, then came inside and hassled the cats. Mel ignores I'm or raises one paw and he backs off, knows what can happen Then A.C. clobbered him. Trouble has sneaked outside and was more than ready to come in, but Fritz unknowingly stuck his nose in the wrong place and she belted him also. Poor little dude had a rough morning. He is out with the guys but I will have to ol round I'm up and bring him inside so they can get to work. Maybe I will get some flowers planted.

Hello, I lost a big post when my computer went wonky, and I had to restart the computer twice this am! Hopefully all is working now. :) My lungs are still not working well. I'm taking 8 puffs of ventolin a day and it's barely helping. I went back to the doctor and he said I probably have walking pneumonia. My lymph nodes aren't swollen anymore and I have no fever, so I just need to rest and stay humidified. The weather hasn't helped either. It's been so hot, dry and windy. I wish we had our AC in because opening the windows is making it worse on me. Thankfully it's overcast today and cooler. We're suppose to get rain, I really, really hope it pours! That would really help me. We haven't had any moisture in at least 3 months. I'm looking forward to the cooler temps so I can turn the oven on, I want to make pork chops today Better Than Shake N Bake Pork Chops

Enjoy your outing today Janet, good for you for staying on top of the edible arrangements. I hope it's worth it and it tastes great! Yum on Butter chicken---steak dinner sounds like a perfect birthday dinner! Glad the tv is up and running, silly squirrel's! We have a similar problem, but it's the pigeons who like to chew the wires on the roof, right where it comes out from the dish. I usually hear them and shoo them away by hitting the eaves with a broom, lol ;)

That's great your new computer is up and running Linda! Bummer about loading some of your software...I'm sure it won't be too hard, enjoy playing with it!! :)

Silver Dollar sounds like it was fun Karen. Lol, at your cats and Fritz, never a dull moment! Enjoy your day :)

    Have a great day everyone!

Sounds like you had a lovely time at Silver Dollar City Karen! I would like to watch a Polish dance troupe! (And eat perogies while doing so) :) Sounds like Fritz has had an action-packed morning. I envy you getting to plant flowers! They were selling perennials at the grocery store today. Always so uplifting to see them in the stores. LOL. I did kind of wonder about the tripe. :)

Good to see you Shona. Wow on 8 puffs a day. That's a lot! I've had walking pneumonia and it zonks you right out. No energy. Do rest up. Porkchops sound yummy. Wow on pigeons chewing the wires. LOL.

Jim's cold is better but he doesn't have his normal energy level so we were back home by 3. Picked up my Edible Arrangements gift and they're wonderful! What a great deal! Strawberries, bananas and green apple. The strawberries are my fave with green apple a close second. I shared some with Jim, my girlfriend and her daughter on the way home.

Popped into Pier 1 Imports. Got a cute "Maple Leaf" garland for decorating for Canada Day as well as four mini shot glasses that look like mason jars (no handles). Stopped in at my girlfriend's flower shop as my Mom had arranged for me to pick up a bouquet of flowers from her for my birthday. They're beautiful. Lots of gerberas and pale orange lilies. Grabbed some goodies and treats from the grocery store and then mailed off a present to my Mom for Mother's Day. I got her two little solar garden gnomes and a gift card. The postage was crazy but don't get me started. :)

Off to prep the butter chicken. Still rainy and gray outside.

Your edible bouquet sounded wonderful, Janet. Send a picture of the wreath, it sounds awesome. Pier 1 Imports does have a store in Spingfield, I have only been there once a long time ago. It has a lot of interesting and unusual items.

Yes, the "corrections" my phone makes are strange at times. I can tell when someone posts using a smart phone by the weird substitutions, and I am slowly getting better at spotting mine. Some still get by...ha ha.

Mel and Fritz are each half on my lap and half on the recliner. A.C. popped out of the door and spent about 45 minutes exploring carriage house, garage, yard, barnyard, etc. he was amicable about being rounded up and is sprawled out onthe floor sleeping. Bad kitty. Trouble sneaked out for half an hour and was very happy when Wayne saw her at the door and let her in. They are both going to end up as indoor outdoor cats, I believe.

    Have a good day, everyone.
