Mighty Dark Monday

It is a beautiful day and the weather forecast is for clear skies. Six hours start time of 11:44 CDT this morning. I hope to stay home until long afterward!

Sad to hear of the death of Jerry Lewis at 91 years of age.. He was certainly a comedy icon from way back.

Fritz is still looking for a nonexistent mouse. Mel is beside me on my chair. The remaining cats are dozing from the exertion of waking up and getting a quick snack. Coffee is ready and a cup of caffeine is mandatory!

No idea why the picture on the right is sideways. Maybe I held the camera at an angle?
The one on the left is of the guys resting from cutting down the dead mulberry tree. The sideways wonder is just the front porch.

    Good Morning Everyone.

So far it's clear skies here. I'm very curious to see whatever part of the solar eclipse we will see here. Had we moved to SC we would have seen even more of it but that's neither here or there.
Jerry Lewis seems to be one of the last icons Karen. There are still a few but the actors and comedians today don't even compare.
Love your front porch! I find if I take photos with my ipad or phone the photos will do the same thing ... upload sideways and I figured out that if I "edit" the photo by cropping it ever so slightly and saving it when I upload it it is in the right direction. I've always said when I win the lottery and build my dream house it will have a deep porch that wraps around the entire house. I love porches and sitting out on them.

Not much else going on here. Too early yet. I know we will go to the gym later and get something to eat at the diner ... just the usual Monday.

Here is a link that will tell you how much and when of the Solar Eclipse you'll see when you enter your zip code.

Good morning Karen and Linda and all to follow. Eclipse or not, still another work day here. Daughter kept Kaiden home from school so they could experience the eclipse together. Kids weren't allowed to go outside anyway and not a whole lot going on for them but to watch on tv. She is bringing hubs and I some glasses as she had 2 extra. Curious to see if Chloe acts differently this afternoon. Guess we will experience 80% Linda.

Best get back to work. Spaghetti, garlic bread and a salad on the menu for dinner today.

    Enjoy the darkness all!

Good thread title, Karen. Very apt for the day. Fritz must know something is there or had been there. Nice pics.

I couldn't use a zip code as we don't have the same postal system, Linda but I did Google Ottawa and we are only going to get 60% a partial eclipse.

Good idea to keep Kaiden home from school today and great to hear they have the proper glasses to wear, Kimmer. You should get a better effect at 80%. And I said before I have experienced a full one way back in the 60's and it was pretty cool. Don't work too hard and enjoy your spaghetti dinner.

We are having chicken something for dinner tonight. I need to dust and do some other puttering around the house today.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

It'll be hard to figure out what's going on here Kimmer, big clouds have already rolled in and are naturally blocking the sun. Oh well.

I too need to dust Joce and do a few other things and I'll start doing them tonight when I'm puttering around with the tv on.
Bummer on not being able to use the zip code thing but glad you found something helpful. And very cool experiencing one already.

Linda, I will look at the URL for sure.
Boo on the clouds! It is hazy here and ??? what will happen this afternoon.

Will watch our critters also, Kimmer. I don't think they will do any thing different but you never know. Usually they just nap unless we have a bad storm. Then AC, Trouble, and Mauser snooze while Fritz and Mel hide. How is Chloe these days?

Hi Joce. We are on the edge of the viewing so will see what we will see. GS's school bought special glasses for all the kids so they could watch. Chicken sounds good. I don't think we are taking GS to Rolla and sure don't want to hassle with the traffic!

I finished the minutes for the fire dept meeting. Now have to drag myself away from the computer and do aome work around the house. Sigh.

Will play with the photos next time and see if it helps prevent sideways wonders. Ha ha!

Yep, every time a cloud blocks out the sun I think " Oooo, it's starting", then the cloud passes and it's bright and sunny.
I don't think LD or Bella will be fazed at all. They too will be napping.

The eclipse is starting. It is a bit dimmer than earlier and the homemade box viewer showed the moon covering the sun bit by bit. Fun!

Wayne took Fritz for his walk this morning and some dude in abeat up white pickup came flying by. He just got the dog pulled out of the line of impact. The guy never slowed down even when Wayne hollered at him to stop. He called the neighbor complained and hopefully she will have her husband speak to the idiot. He was driving far too fast and should have slowed down when he saw Fritz ..... Wayne would have moved him right away.

We are on the front porch watching the light fade. A gentle breeze has started and it feels so nice. He looked thru a flower pot insert with holes on the bottom and it shows the progression quit well -- Ozark ingenuity at its best. Ha ha.

No lawn mowing for today. The heat and humidity is far too high.

Well, it was dusky but not totally dark by any means. Fritz was scared when he stepped on to the porch, but settled down after a bit. Goofy dog.

Hi guys! :) I copied and pasted the thread from a couple of days ago and was going to bring it home and do a post up but then something went awry. I'll head to the library for some 'me' time tomorrow and catch up properly. Am back at the Hospital in Fort Frances today but this time not with Mom. My favourite cousin has to have an ultrasound follow up to a recent Mammogram so I came along for mental support. A lady came to Mom's place this morning to do an assessment on her for the assisted living Manor. I had to leave before it was over but Jim was there and he'll give me the rundown when I get back. A nurse is supposed to arrive this aft. to check to make sure Mom's doing okay and a physiotherapist is coming tomorrow afternoon for an hour. Did I tell you my favourite neice had her baby? Another boy, Thomas Joseph, 7 lbs. 2 oz. SO cute! I went baby shopping the day before he was born so need to mail off my parcel perhaps tomorrow. Am going to make shrimp club sandwiches for dinner tonight. Easy peasy. Last night we BBQ'd steak with fresh corn on the cob and an asparagus fontina tart. Miss you guys. Talk soon.

Hi Janet. You have certainly been busy. Hoping the nurse decides your mom is ready for the assisted living program. Plus has an opening. Fingers crossed.

I got to see it!!!! I didn't think I would because I never bought any special type of glasses to see the eclipse or build anything homemade. It was no dimmer here but when we went to the diner to get something to eat the waitress asked us if we seen the eclipse and I told her "no" because we never got glasses. She had a pair and gave them to me to go outside for a look. It was probably about 3:30 ... well past the peak time but I still got to see something so it was pretty neat and it made me very happy.

What a jerk that guy was to be speeding along like that and not even to have slowed down when he seen someone. Not cool at all and I'm glad you called the neighbor about it Karen. Cool though that it got dusky where you are at.

Hope your cousins ultrasound comes out with good results Janet. Things seem to be rolling along nicely for your mom too. Congrats on your niece's baby boy!! Welcome to the world little guy!
