Lol. Every time I start the thread with a huge post I get an error message so I didn’t even try this time.
Janet sorry to hear about your aunt.
Franks dad has opted not to have the bypass. He is 87 and the rehab will be tough so he just doesn’t want to do it. Frank has been home since last Saturday. All in all his dad seems to be doing ok. His mom had a trip to Italy to see family for 6 weeks leaving on the 26th. The airline refused to give a voucher for the tickets that were already purchased. They will only let frank change the date for $300 but they don’t have any dates yet for next year. So she may change it til the end of August and franks dad will come her. She will only go for a few weeks.

Yesterday we went to a graduation party then met our neighbors for drinks at a local restaurant. I packed during the day. Went for a walk around lake in the morning and decided to swing by Marshall’s to look for a shirt for vacation. Lol I texted Frank to see if he needed anything at Marshals and he was there getting ready to come in to look for a pair of pants. No luck on the pants but I did find two nice tops and he got a belt on clearance for $8
It’s raining here. I had planned on floating in the pool after my run but I think I’m going to head over to Trader Joe’s.

Good Morning Laurie! I`m glad to hear Frank`s Dad is feeling a little better. You can`t blame him for not wanting to proceed with a bypass. A shame your MIL has to take a pass on her trip to Italy but hopefully it`ll work out for next year even though it`ll be a shorter one. Sounds like you had a nice day yesterday and are all set to head on your vacation. Both a float in the pool and a jaunt to Trader Joe`s sounds fun.

I woke up at 6:20 a.m. and couldn`t get back to sleep. Got out of bed at 6:50. Headed outside and did an hour`s worth of weeding. Back inside now and just pushed the coffee button.

I`ve got to do a big house cleaning today, top to bottom. Jim is going to do work outside until it gets too hot. The lawn could really use a mowing. The grass hasn`t grown all that much in most areas but the weeds are standing above the grass a foot high. Shaking head. I just would like it to look a little nicer for when our company arrives tomorrow.

It`s going to be another scorcher, with a high of 31C/87F so I`m pretty sure we`re going to turn the air conditioner back on. Haven`t decided what to make for dinner yet. My freezer is getting pretty empty. :)

Benjamin`s friends will be with us until Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon Jim is dropping me off at the train station and I`m heading to Montreal to see Jim`s cousin`s wife and two girls for three nights while Jim`s cousin arrives (also by train) :) in Ottawa Thursday afternoon and on Friday the two of them are heading up to Jim`s Dad`s cottage for a boy`s weekend with Jim`s brothers and cousins. We all arrive home in Ottawa Sunday. Monday we pack then Tuesday Jim and I head off to Rainy River. What a busy time!

    Good Morning Everyone.

Hot, Hot, Hot. We had lunch out yesterday. We left LD home because it's too hot to sit outside comfortably. We went to California Pizza Kitchen and had an Italian Chopped Salad and Pizza. It was good but didn't sit well on either of our tummies for some reason and thus neither one of us slept well last night.
No plans yet for the day. No plans regarding dinner yet either.

Happy to hear you arrived in FL Michelle and that you are loving the hotel. Enjoy!! Swimming with the dolphins sounds like an experience of a lifetime.

Sorry to hear your neighbor is moving Joce. It stinks when a good neighbor moves but hoping nice people move in next.

We got very little rain yesterday Kimmer, just a sprinkling here and I'm glad because the ground needs to dry out some.

How was your "Hello Apron" meal last night Karen? Did you like it? Was it the first time trying their product? I've never been to a Menards but it sounds like a great store.

Have you planned what you will be doing when your friends from Taiwan visit Janet? Any special sites to see?

Happy to hear Frank's dad is stable Laurie.

Good Morning Linda! Your meal out last night sounded delicious. Too bad it didn`t sit well with either of you! :( Our guests will be here for two full days. One day we will drive them around downtown Ottawa to see the Parliament Buildings, The Prime Minister`s old residence (it`s under renos at the moment), Rideau Hall, the Byward Market, Rockcliffe (Ottawa`s elite neighbourhood where a lot of Embassies are also located), perhaps China Town. I`ll pack a picnic lunch for us that day. Jim is an excellent tour guide. One day we may do a slower pace and bring them down swimming to the river and they can even try out Jim`s kayak if they want to. I`d like to bring Sujie to the Unrefined Olive. She owns a restaurant and cooks a lot so I thought she`d enjoy an entire shop devoted to olive oils and balsamic vinegars and I didn`t see anything like that when I`ve been in Taiwan.

Made a Cheese, Tomato, Green onion and ham omelette for breakfast with a slice of toast on the side. Turned the air conditioner on. Tally ho.

Shopping at the olive oil shop would be fun! The two days they are visiting sound ideally planned.

I am pooped. And my back is hurting again. Grrrrr. But not surprisingly. Got the entire interior of the house clean, bathrooms, floors, etc. Then swept all the interlock in the front and the decks. Jim got the front yard mowed. We are set for our next set of visitors.

Heading out for a hot tub.

Good afternoon and hello to all. I can understand your FIL not wanting the bipass Laurie. Good that he is feel a bit better. Janet, you and Jim have been on a whirlwind lately, lol! Enjoy your time here Michelle!

Not much happening here. Thundered a little a bit ago but no rain made it this way.

Making taquitos tonight. Actually filling is already made, just waiting to stuff them. They don't take long at all once in the oven so waiting on replies from the boys for their ETA.

My gorganzola cream sauce last night came out amazing. Had some leftover so switching up the meal plan to hamburgers on the BBQ tomorrow served with a spread of the sauce. Delightful!

Hope all enjoy the rest of Sunday!

RAIN came yesterday. No idea how much bec I hit the rain gauge with the Gator. Aargh! Internet went out Saturday afterward. It stormed and poured for a bit but was not severe. Most of the water must have run off but at least we got some, we got the internet back sometime today.

I can understand the desire, at 87, to not hassle with a bypass. It was hard on my dad and he was not quite that age. Hope the trip to Italy is a good one for them and boo on the airlines not allowing a change.

Janet, yourself taking a page from my book getting up so early!. Hope your back improves. You certainly have busy days ahead of you!.Have fun with your visitors.

Linda, it was good you left LD home or he could have melted in the oppressive heat. Ha ha. The Hello Fresh meals are okay but we don’t like the extra pans and setting stuff in bowls to keep warm etc.

Kimmer, we were glad to get a little rain yesterday, but also need more. Thursday is the next big chance. It is on the short side for sure.

There`s a lot of good stuff goin` on in your kitchen Kimmer. Taquitos (don`t think I`ve ever had one), Steak and hamburgers with gorgonzola sauce.Nice!

Hi Karen! Boo on your internet being down and hitting the rain guage with the Gator. :) Excuse my ignorance on these Hello Fresh etc. meals but I am curious. You say the Hello Fresh meals are okay but you don`t like extra pans and setting stuff in bowls to keep warm. Can you give an example so I know what you mean and how that compares to the other company`s meals that you had been getting.

I had two pork chops in the freezer so took the meat pounder to them and are making Pork Schnitzel with some ham gravy I had frozen, baby potatoes and some sort of veg.

I only tried one Blue Apron meal kit and it used s a simliar method,so can’t really judge yet. They don’t give as many choices.

Have used Hello Fresh and their recipes involved using several baking sheets to roast different veggies, instead of just one, or else instruct users to microwave veggies.Yuk! What is so different or interesting about that ? The main dish meat seems to always be fried in olive oil (that is okay but there should be more methods than frying.) I guess I thought it would be more variety. But the food is good quality. And portions are correct.
