Sunday's Slumber

  • LindaLMT 6 years ago
    Good Morning Everyone.
It's another bright beautiful sunny day and going to be an even warmer one than yesterday. Expected temps high 70s to low 80s(f). No humidity so it's still really nice.

Getting to sleep much too late and thus waking up much too late. No plans today but should go to the gym and do a laundry (hand washables).
I need to clean up the garden/plant bed in the front and back of the house. Some old plants need to come out and new ones need to be put in. I'm awful at gardening and just don't know what looks nice with what so will probably seek some help from a better garden center. We like low growing, perennials, colorful ... the ones in the front need to be able to tolerate a lot of sun and the ones in the back need to be for shaded areas.

I ordered 3 Essential Oils yesterday and am looking forward to getting. Dill to be used in egg salad. My friend uses it and says it's the BEST, even better than fresh dill. Eucalyptus which is suppose to wonderful in the shower. Place a few drop on a washcloth and let the steam work it's magic. And Valerian which is to help you relax and eases restlessness. I use Valerian tincture to help relax and ease stress and it's wonderful and also have it in tea form so I'm hoping an essential oil will be nice too. Of course you use one or another.

No idea about dinner just yet.

Good Morning Linda. Your day sounds lovely. Our temps dropped down a lot overnight and it was -17C/1F when I woke up this morning. We too have a bright blue sky and it is warming up but spring is no where close. :) Jim talked me into watching the movie "Chuck" after the hockey game ended last night so I too was up waaaayyyy past my bedtime. The movie is based on the real life boxer that the "Rocky" Movies were made about. It was okay. I sure envy you getting to play in the garden. A dill essential oil to use in egg salad? Can't wait to hear what you think of it. I LOVE Eucalyptus and sometimes hang a chunk off the shower and it does create a nice scent when it gets steamy. Your outing to Ford's Garage sounded fun! Nice you found some new tops that you're pleased with.

I'm thawing some b/s chicken thighs and thought I'd marinate them in some asian mixture and then cook them on the stove top and have edamame on the side.

Jim and I fried up a baked potato we had leftover for brekkie along with a fried egg. I've fed my birds but just as I was coming in 6 deer came out of the woods and literally were licking their lips as they came towards the feeders. So I brought two of the hanging feeders in and will put them back out again when the deer move on. If...the deer move on!

Hope your daughter and Kevin had a fun time celebrating St. Patrick's Day last night Kimmer. I would SO love your baked brie dinner last night. Salmon sounded good as well.

Jim and I are about to head out on a jaunt but at this point we don't know where we're headed yet. LOL. Just know we want to get a breath of fresh air.

    Have a great day everybody!

That is cold Janet! We seen the movie "Chuck" ... as you said, it was ok. Interesting story but not one that would have me running out to the box office to see. I was trying to find real Eucalyptus stalks for the shower but was not having any luck so ordered the essential oil instead. Leftover baked potatoes are great cut up for breakfast with eggs. I'll purposely make extra if I know I'm in the mood for breakfast. I'll do a scramble with cut up baked potato, eggs, cheese, onion ... I'll even cut up leftover veggies like asparagus, broccoli, spinach and mix in as well.
Ut-Oh on the deer eyeing up your bird feeders. You'll have to buy them their own treat (LOL!) Poor things are probably hungry and can't wait for Spring.

Good luck with your gardening, Linda. I suppose you need very hardy plants to endure your hot temps and sun in the summer. Good garden centers are really helpful in that area. I have eucalyptus in a dried floral arrangement and it smells wonderful and I also have the essential oil which I use with neem oil and other things to deter bugs from my plants in the garden. I have used Valerian but never found it worked well for me.

Yes, it is nice and sunny out, Janet but BRR it is too cold for this time of the year! This kind of temperature is supposed to continue throughout the week. I also have never heard of a dill essential oil. Yes, do let us know what you think. Lol I hope you enjoy your jaunt and venture today.
I hope your daughter and her fiance enjoyed their St. Paddy's Day, Kimmer.

So cute hearing about Fritz and the puppy playing, Karen. It is probably good for both of them.

We did laundry this morning and I have an Irish soda bread in the oven at the moment and will review it in IMI 11 when it is done. We are having roasted whole chicken for dinner tonight. I am looking forward to it as we haven't had on in such a long time.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Thank You Joce for deleting my double post. OMG!! I can't believe someone is working the site for the better! I'm afraid to get too excited though, just yet. YUM on roasted chicken, one of my favorites.
Young Living Oils has a line of oils that are approved for internal use ... the Dill is suppose to be great. I have a few others that came in a starter kit, lemon is really nice. A few drops in ice water or ice tea is great. The peppermint is nice too but strong. The rest are medicinal ones that don't taste so great.

Good afternoon and hello to all. Hope you had a nice jaunt today Janet, where ever you decided to go and do. I know what you mean Linda. I try to plant as Florida Friendly as I can because of watering conditions but it can be tricky. Did warm up quite a bit today with a beautiful blue sky. But these up and down temps we've had drive me nuts!

Had a delightful time with Kaiden last night. We watched the movie, Ferdinand, which was quite cute and we all enjoyed it. Played our usual Crazy 8's tournament and then bedtime. He didn't want to sleep in the spare room/office so I let him crash on the couch. Karli and Kevin had a great time downtown walking around and talking to people and bar hopping, all on foot, lol!

Felt a bit more productive today. Still didn't finish my kitchen rearranging but had a good grocery shop first at Sam's Club then the regular grocery store. Was a bit lax with my meal planning for next week but got it figured out last minute. Also bought a new down alternative comforter for our bed and some new solar lamps for out back along the fence behind the porch. Oh, and speaking of planting, also bought some Mammoth Elephant Ears (I love those!) which Cayce just planted for me along the fence row. They do very well in partial sun, which is what it is there, and can get huge. Happy, happy about that. Had some at our last house and really missed them.

Thought about making the cheesy stuffed shells that I haven't got around to yet but pushing off yet again, lol. Making pork tenderloin, boiled potatoes and yes, Janet, yes, red cabbage! Haven't had that in awhile and sounds good. Might make the shells tomorrow.

Hope all enjoy the rest of their Sunday!

Home again. We have a bunch of possible porn masquerading as “cooks.” Somalsen has a website in her page, there are others that are all new and may be of the same ilk. Ugh! Yuk!

I think what they do Karen is get on the site and then change their stuff later.

I love Elephant Ears Kimmer. There are some really cool crafts using them. People take the leaves and then cement over them creating a cast of sorts and then use the cast in all kinds of projects. I seen the same thing done with towels. They soak the towels in a cement mixture, drape it over a tub, and make a flower pot when it dries and hardens. I like the up and down temps ... you don't get sick of the heat nor do you get tired of the cold.

I made pasta with broccoli rabe (tossed with olive oil, seasoned bread crumbs, grated parmesan) for me and grilled a thick cut pork chop for DH and steamed some veggies. I've been eating rather crappy lately and need to get back on the vegetable wagon.

Well, at least there appears to be no more porn on the home page and the groups either appear to be gone or on soooo many pages back that they don't matter. Ding Dong the Porn is Dead...............for now.................
