Wednesday`s Wunning Around......

Good Morning Everyone! I`ve got a Dr.`s appointment at 10 a.m. Going to get a Pneumonia Booster Shot. I had the Pneumonia Shot last year and still managed to contract it so my Dr. said I should get the Booster this year as there are a lot of varieties of Pneumonia that aren`t covered by the first one. I`ll leave Jim at home to putter around. After my appointment I`m going to try run over to the Mall and see if I can find a new shirt to add to my winter wardrobe. LOL. We`re heading off for the weekend tomorrow and I`d like a couple more things to throw in my suitcase. Jim`s Uncle George passed away last month so we are going to his Celebration of Life on Friday. Jim`s brother and family invited us to go visit them in St. Catharines for the weekend so we will head there on Saturday morning and probably head back to Ottawa on Monday.

At 1 p.m. Jim has a Dr.`s appointment, just an annual physical so I will drive him back in for that and at 1:30 I`ve got an appointment with a NEW Hair dresser for a hair cut. Cross your fingers for me that it goes really well as I`m sick and tired of trying out new Hair dressers or paying exorbitant amounts of money for a hair cut.

We have a few errands to run and will probably just grab a quick lunch somewhere afterwards. We need to pack too.

I`m going to make Kassler with Pelmini and Ham Gravy for dinner this evening.

Gray and -6C/21F at the moment. Quite blah looking.

Is Frank home from work today Laurie? Hope he gets better soon. It sounds serious! I saw the photo of your shadow box on FB. It`s very pretty.

Linda, I`d done a bit of research on Nate Blakeslee prior to the Book Chat and found that exact article from the NYTimes about 06`s daughter Spitfire so I downloaded it, printed it off and passed it around at the Chat. Everyone really, really liked the book.

A turkey has flown all the way up to the back deck railing and is peering in through the window at me. Now it`s looking at the roof of the house. Ai yi yi. Silly birds.

    Good Morning Everyone.

Hope your new hairdresser is good Janet. I need a new one too. Haven't had my hair cut in some time but I'm going to grow mine out so I can pull it back. Humidity is too much to contend with here all the time. My vet moved her practice to a new location about a year ago. The building is huge and has room for two more businesses and a hair salon just opened in one of the spaces. When I take LD to get groomed tomorrow I'll stop in and get their information and schedule an appointment to coincide with his next one. I can drop him off, go next door and get my haircut, and walk back and pick him up.
Good Luck to you and Jim with your Dr. appointments. Fingers crossed no pneumonia for you this year. Enjoy your visit with family over the weekend but my condolences for the reason it brings you out that way.
I'm glad you were able to include information about Spitfire for your book chat. Funny the title of the book is different but the same book. I can't say enough how much I loved the book and the story even though the ending was sad. If it was just me I'd be packing it up and moving to the outskirts of Yellowstone and fighting for wolf conservation.
Had to look up what your dinner is going to be tonight. It looks good!

It's overcast and cool this morning. We are having another little cold front which is nice. Going to go to the gym this afternoon.

Success!!! I found a tile/granite company that will work with me. The woman was so nice, professional, helpful, etc. Met with her yesterday, found a piece of remnant quartz, and paid my deposit. The guy is scheduled for the 10th to come out and measure b4 cutting and the piece will be installed, by them, on the 15th. All for $250 which is more than half what the first guy was guesstimating.

    Good morning.

Sorry to your Jim’s uncle passed. My last biological uncle died recently. I have in-law aunt left, she is 95. Sounds like you have a busy schedule ahead. Good luck with the new hairdresser. We are at 31F here, just under freezing. The forecast for the weekend has changed so now they say SNOW Saturday, but the models are all over the place so who knows? We could get 6 inches or 6 snowflakes.

Hi Linda. Does LD enjoy his grooming? I saw a documentary on wolves in the area around Yellowstone, how some ranchers no longer trap or hunt them, they recognize the role of the predators. As long as the predators leave my critters alone we try to live in peace.....even raccoons and possums have a place in the world. Just not in my barn / hen house! Haha.

We went out last night after running all over! Ate at Colton’s. Wayne was full from Rotary lunch meeting so he got a bowl of potato soup. Loaded of course.I had mesquite grilled salmon with green beans.....very good! It cam with raspberry chipotle sauce. If I had ignored the two fresh rolls and whipped butter it would have been quite healthy. I had unsweetened peach tea...very nice didn’t miss the sugar.

Wayne has VA appt in Columbia tomorrow....I want to look for a “cancer wig ” there is a better selection than here in Rolla. Decided a gray or white one with purple highlights would be cheerful!

If weather holds Friday we will go to Matt’s Steak House after haircuts, expensive, but has yummy steaks!

    Have a nice day.

Morning! Good luck with your booster shot today Janet and hope you find a shirt! So sorry about Jim's Uncle, it's good y'all are having a Celebration of Life for him. Crossing fingers for the hairdresser to be a good one! I will have to Google your dinner, never heard of it lol! Haha at the turkey :P

We too are having a cold front Linda,,, 40's at night and 50's during the day...brrrrr! Awesome you found a tile guy, woohoo!!

At the gym then I need to run home and make phone calls and try and find this make-up eyeshadow palet that Bri really wants. It's by a guy named James Charles (never heard of him before) and it is so friggin popular among teens that it's impossible tp find anywhere because they sell out so fast. I told her she could start wearing a little make-up after Christmas time and she is super excited lol.

Yesterday I made Soft And Chewy Paleo Ginger Snap Cookies and they are so dang good, you'd never know they were Paleo! Will review today. Going to make some regular cookies, not sure which one's yet, today for the family so they will stop trying to eat all mine lol ;P.

Dinner will be Italian beef in the slow cooker on hoagie buns with a side salad. Have a good day everyone!!!

Hi Karen! Sorry to hear about your Uncle as well :( It's tough when all of the older family members start passing away. I only have one Grandparent alive, my Memaw, and Michael has none. We are going on a cruise this February for my Memaw's 80th birthday, about 100 people going. She is doing wonderful for 80, acts like she is 20 years younger lol :) Nice on your dinner last night, sounds good!! Good luck wig shopping!

LD hates grooming Karen but after he's happy and feels good. I too have one Aunt on my father's side left, his sister, and that's all from that generation. Hope you find a nice wig, purple highlights sound great and it's in style. Hope the weather holds so you can enjoy a dinner out at Matt's.

I've never heard of the makeup Bri wants Michelle but do hope you find it. The Ginger cookies look good. I've been wanting some but haven't made any yet. Nice on the cruise, where will you all be cruising to?

Went to the gym and stopped in the grocery store after. Bought crab cakes for dinner and will make a veggie side. I'll make rice for DH too. It's getting cooler here and suppose to be cold overnight.

Busy day! I got my Pneumonia shot this morning and my hair cut this afternoon and YES, I think I may have actually found a good hair dresser. It was double what I pay at First Choice but I like her salon and I like her and she certainly takes more care with what she`s doing, so.....

That`d be awesome if you had a hair dresser right close to LD`s groomer Linda! Very handy! So the Vet does pet grooming too or does the Vet offer that service and someone else does that? I am super happy to hear that you found a tile company. Hurray! You deserve a happy ending to this tale! Yum on crab cakes.

Your dinner at Colton`s sounded yummy Karen. Purple highlights would be fun. :) My girlfriend who is 57 has totally white hair. It`s very white so most people think she has dyed it but it`s natural. :) Yum at a meal at Matt`s Steakhouse. My condolences on your Uncle`s passing and WOW at your Aunt being 95! That`s awesome!

That`s very cute Michelle that you are going to let Bri start wearing make up after Christmas. I must admit I was always pleased I had a boy as I figured they wouldn`t be so hard. No make up talks or lady talks. LOL. I`ve never heard of James Charles but that`s not at all surprising. Yum on the Ginger snaps and your dinner this evening also sounds scrumptious. HOW AWESOME that your family is doing a Cruise for your Meemaw. That`s so nice!!!! And it would be so much fun! How long and where to? :)

My arm is hurting and feels hot where I got the booster shot but there`s no mark or swelling. I did find a new sweater and I also bought myself a very pretty silver sparkly snowflake brooch just because it was Christmassy. :)

Thanks everyone for your good thoughts for Jim`s Uncle. Like I said, he was a super nice man, he did good things, he was a good husband and father, travelled, and lived to be 80. The world needs more people just like him. He spent his time on earth well. It is to be a Celebration of Life and that`s what we shall do.

On the way home from town we stopped in at the grocery store just to get a couple of items. Bobby Ryan, who plays for our Ottawa Senators Hockey team was shopping right beside us with his little girl in the cart. SO cute to hear them banter back and forth. It`s always fun to see a celebrity in person who you watch on TV a lot. :)

I got three more Christmas cards in the mail today. Also reached out to my cousin`s daughter. She is going to College in St. Catharines this year and since we`ll be at my BIL`s over the weekend there I ask if they would mind if Jaimie joined us for dinner and they said no problem. I`m quite excited. I don`t often get to see my relatives unless I`m home in Rainy River. :) She`s 24. She`s drop dead gorgeous. She`s super smart! And....she`s SO nice! The whole package.

Should think about starting dinner fairly soon. We ate at a new Thai restaurant in Kanata. Jim had a Bangkok Curry Bowl with rice and I had a soup. Nice and spicy with lots of chicken but I`d like to see what the sodium content was.

I think I mentioned that our Dr. is retiring in January. I`m just heart broken. We loved her to bits. I had to say good-bye to her today and I was breaking up. Argh. I have been her patient for 31 years!!!
