Weird Wednesday

    Good Morning Everyone.

Weird because over 6 thousand miles away the Sahara Desert dust has arrived. It's blowing thru high up in the atmosphere and makes for itchy dry eyes. It helps to suppress storms but ones that might come thru have some "punch". None-the-less it makes for some great sunsets.

Not much planned for today. Did not stop at the grocery store yesterday after the gym because there were huge dark clouds and lightning overhead. I'll get there in the next day or two.

How's the bathroom looking Karen? Did you get any rain?
How was the book 'Mr. Mercedes' Janet? How'd your mom's dr. appt. go?
    Everything good Joce?
Kuddos on getting everything you need for the kids for back to school Michelle.
The pasta sauce sounds interesting Laurie, is it not cooked?

    Good Morning Everyone!

LOVE the hawk photos you posted on FB Laurie. That would be freaky having it go right over your head but it sure is a beautiful bird!!!! What awesome deals you found at the Farm Table! The tomato sauce sounds to die for. Benjamin loves one like that that I used to make years ago. Just this spring a Farm Table opened up at the side of the road on the way in to town but I never made it there. Hopefully when I get back at the end of the month they’ll still have some goodies out. Infact, Jim and I have even thought of setting out a farm table ourselves at the end of our lane way. Jim gets a lot of apples and such in the fall and we have a lot of cyclists go by our place so we might get some business. 😊 It wasn’t a farm table, but....I too got a great deal today on fresh veggies. Jim and I visited the local garage as wouldn’t you know it....the fan for the heating/air-conditioning died. Ugh. So we went and asked if they could order the parts for us. On the counter there were freezer bags full of fresh picked green beans picked this morning! The guy who owns the garage’s Mother has so many green beans she didn’t know what to do with them so she brought them in to give away free. I grabbed a bag. Jim and Mom love green beans even if I don’t. 😊

I made Roast Chicken with Balsamic Gravy for dinner last night. Baby boiled potatoes on the side and Beet Salad. Mom loved it and ate her plate clean. I brought her to her Dr.’s appointment this afternoon and he says she’s doing great. He encouraged me to bring her out for a walk every day so she gets her confidence back and keeps moving her legs and hopes that by the time I leave she’ll be okay to go out on her own. He also is going to arrange for physio on her back once a week at the hospital so that’s awesome.

I spent about 45 min. At the Library this afternoon and caught up on email. Not long enough for my liking though. LOL. I’m going to try go in on Friday and have some me time there without Jim wanting to get moving. 😊

Today we’ve been invited for lunch back out at Bergland Park with my cousin Eleanor and her husband. It’ll be good for Mom to get a change of scenery. It’s also Jim’s and my 37th Wedding Anniversary. 😊 Mom is treating us to dinner over in Baudette, Mn. At “Rosalee’s”. I always get the same thing....Prime Rib with Hash Brown’s. It’s AH-mazing. Then....we’ll drop Mom back at her apartment and are meeting friends and a cousin at the Legion for a couple of drinks. There is no ‘bar’ in Rainy River. The Legion is it.

    Wishing everyone a great Wednesday!

Very cool on the Sahara Dust Linda. I didn`t know that happened! I am a major Stephen King fan so I LOVED Mr. Mercedes. My fave Stephen King book though was `The Stand`.

Interesting about the Sahara dust, Linda. I had never heard of that before!

Laurie the pics you had on FB of the Hawk were amazing! Scary but amazing none the less! Nice, you were able to get some good stuff at the farm stand.

Excellent to hear you were able to get all the school things for the kids all in one shop, Michelle.

Hopping your bathroom gets finished soon, Karen. snakes creep me out totally!

I bet you could have a stand for things like that, Janet. Lol at least when you are home that is. We finally got some much-needed rain. Just so you know and the rain and storms broke the hot spell for the time being. Sounds like your Mom is doing great. Wishing you A Very Happy Anniversary! Funny last night I was saying you and Jim hadn't been to that restaurant in Baudette yet and HA! Enjoy your Anniversary dinner. How nice of your Mom to treat you. You have been having such wonderful meals there.

Not much happening here. I need to get out and pull more weeds. I have already almost filled one garbage bag and it will be filled up in no time. I have about a quarter of the interlocking patio to do yet. Now that it has rained I bet the weeds will be thriving out there. At least it isn't so dreadfully hot today. We are having pizza and a salad for dinner. Easy peasy for me.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Happy Anniversary Janet! I would put apples out for sale and whatever else you might have, you may be surprised at how many takers you might get and cashing in a few extra dollars would be fun. Hope the car problem is an easy and not expensive fix. Fun on the green beans. I roasted them for the first time the other day and ate the whole tray!! They were so good. I'm sure your mom is loving all the home cooking! Glad to hear she is doing well. Have a great dinner out and enjoy your drinks later.

The Sahara dust thing happens (I believe) every year Joce. Last year it was bad and even our eye doctor said more people were showing up with eye allergies because DH was in at the time it was happening for an exam. I noticed mine were very itchy and irritated yesterday and I thought it was from grooming the bunny but the extra dust explains it. Yum on pizza and salad. Yuck on weed pulling.

That`s great that the Ottawa area got some rain and that the temps dropped a bit Joce. I`m always curious to see what my flower barrels and veggie garden look like when I return. :) Weeding interlock is something both Jim and I despise. I try to only do it 3 or 4 times a summer Ugh.Pizza and a salad sound great.

Crazy on the Eye Dr. noticing more people with allergies due to that dust Linda. And very amusing it hits England as well. :)

Had a really nice lunch out at the Park with my cousins. They served Roast Beef on a bun, potato salad, veggie tray, chocolate cake (made with sour cream and coffee) with ice cream. Big lunch! Mom enjoyed her drive and visit and we just dropped her off so she can have a nap. :)

The sauce is not cooked. You put cut up tomatoes (usually plumb) so much garlic that it bites your tongue lol, fresh basil and olive oil and blend in the blender. Then serve over hot spaghetti pasta with a lot of cheese. Frank doesn’t eat it because he doesn’t want to reek of garlic. My MIL makes it so strong you can actually smell the garlic coming out of your pores the next day. I didn’t put that much in but he ate leftover stuffed peppers lol after dinner Rachel remembered she has an 8:30 am dentist appointment. I feel for the dentist.

Good evening and hello to all. Just a quick hi here. Been a busy day and want to get the kitchen cleaned up quick as I have a new book that I am soooooo in to! It's called Yesteryear, I Lived in Paradise, The Story of Caladesi Island by Myrtle Scharrer Betz. It's about right here where I have lived for 30 some years and it's delightful. We frequent Caledesi Island quite a bit and now after reading this wonderful story of this woman that grew up there before it was a park is amazing! And many of her living relatives still live here in Dunedin! Already halfway thru and figure I will finish tonight. I don't get that excited about books that often but this is such a good and easy read!

Made baked chicken drummies with mac and cheese tonight. Easy!

Hope all enjoy the rest of the evening!
