Whimsical Wednesday

Whimsical....determined by chance or impulse or whim rather than by necessity or reason.
Good Morning Everyone! I think Whimsical is a good word for today. I have a zillion things to do but am just going to let things happen and we'll see what gets done and what doesn't. :)
I placed the announcement in the local newspaper in Mom's town for her birthday celebration. They did an adorable job on the ad and I'm really pleased.
We had a really, really lovely evening with Jim's Aunt and Uncle. Uncle George went back for two helpings of your stuffed pork tenderloin Joce and must have told me at least four times how wonderful it was. :) We showed them a bunch of photos we'd taken on our trip to Taipei and they regaled us with stories from the month long cruise they took in October so the night went by in a flash. I made them Poached eggs on toast with fried tomatoes and fresh oranges for breakfast this morning and they just headed off a bit ago. They're hoping to reach Mississauga by nightfall.
I need to do a bit of shopping today and do a Costco run. I want to buy presents for my Mom for both her birthday and for Christmas so I can bring them with me instead of having to pay the outrageous postage I usually have to do to mail them. And I'd like to get Jim's sister June's Christmas presents bought as well so I can mail that parcel off before we leave as it takes forever to reach Alaska. We always buy her a ton of little things and wrap them up and she uses our gift as her Christmas stocking each year. :)
And something is niggling in my brain that I'm forgetting but I haven't figured out what yet!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURIE! Are you and the family going out for dinner? Have a most wonderful day. Are you working today or do you have the day off?
Good luck with getting the deer all fixed up Karen.
Hi to everyone else! Have a great day!

Good name for the thread today, Janet:) I was racking my brain for a good title! I am delighted Jim's Uncle enjoyed the stuffed pork tenderloin so much:) Sounds like you had a delightful evening. Lol I don't know what you are forgetting:) Did you make an appointment with your dentist yet? Flour, potatoes, sugar, TP, some spice you need? Maybe I helped you remember what it is you are supposed to get or to do? Good luck with all your shopping today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURIE! I hope you have a great one!
Karen, Ditto on what Janet said. Let us know how you make out.

I am making Wiener Schnitzel for dinner with buttery potatoes and steamed asparagus with Hollandaise sauce. The plumber is here installing a newer water filter system so I won't have water for a couple of hours. It will be nice when it is done. Then we might be able to take up the rug and then start laying the tiles. After my blood tests yesterday I went on tour shopping and before I knew it, it was 3:00 PM! I came home starving b/c I had not had anything to eat all day! Needless to say I ate pretty soon after I arrived home.

    Wishing everyone a super day!

Hi!! So sweet of you to put an ad out about your Mom's birthday Janet!! My Aunt used to own a local newspaper company and would always put out an ad in the newspaper on our birthdays :) Glad your night with Jims Aunt and Uncle went well!! Yum on breakfast!!!

Lol Joce...you are doing an A+ job at helping Janet try and remember what she forgot :) Big him on your dinner...can I come??

Didn't sleep well last night so I've been trying to recoup most of the day lol. At the car dealership right now getting my oil changed. They said 45-1hr. so we will see how that works out. Dinner is leftover Pork Chile Verde. Hope everyone is having a great day!

LOL. Thanks Joce. I still don't know what I felt I was forgetting. No worries, but thanks for your help. :) Your dinner sounds fabulous. Hope the plumber got the job done for you. Good luck with the tiling.
That's sweet of your Aunt that she used to put ads in the paper for your birthdays Michelle. In 'the olden days' people used to a) read the newspaper a lot more and b) it was their primary source of information. Jim's been working on his family tree and has been going through some issues of a small town paper online back in the early 1900's and they wrote about EVERYTHING. He came across a little announcement that one of his relatives had gone to visit another relative in a nearby town over the weekend. LOL @ how news-worthy that may be but.....
Too bad you didn't get a good sleep. We went to bed at 10:30 and managed to sleep 'til 5:30 so that's better than yesterday. If we manage to sleep an hour extra each day we should be good by the weekend and over the jet lag!
    Yum on your leftovers!
We had a productive jaunt into town. Got a couple of beef roasts, top sirloin, for a decent price at Costco along with bird seed and some other goodies and got a lot of things for Jim's sister for Christmas at Chapters (bookstore).
Gonna go relax. We PVR'd a ton of shows while we were gone so have some catching up to do.

Good evening everyone. Your dinner sounds wonderful Janet and I love getting together with older relatives, such great stories. I'll have a look for the pork recipe.
I've missed you by a day. We're heading to Costco tomorrow, I assume that it's the Merivale Rd. Costco. I love their seasoned bone in chicken breasts, lots of garlic, yumm.

I've never had Wiener Schnitzel Joce, but it sounds interesting and I haven't had a schnitzel that I didn't like.

I hope that you get more sleep tonight Michelle. Love leftovers.

I haven't had Shake N' Bake for years.

It's been a really quiet day here, no constriction, and I took that as a hint that I should have a nap. The weather is still fairly warm for this time of year and I'll take it.
My are is still really bruised from the blood work, I may try somewhere new next time.

Dinner was Shepherds Pie and I made it with leek and garlic mashed potatoes. There should have been enough leftover for tomorrow but hubs got carried away. Oh well, there's enough for lunch tomorrow, for me anyway.

    Happy Birthday Laurie.
    Wishing everyone a great evening.

Love the small town papers, Janet. "So and so visited so and so after church on Sunday" etc. is so cute. The paper was the Facebook of today, I guess.

Half the deer is now in my freezer -- 20 lbs of coarse ground venison, and 3 tenderloins. this is a BIG buck, so we figured ground venison was the best way to go. We have about another day's work ahead of us - took from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. to process it. I have to figure out how to get more meat in - the freezer is full. Our daughter is happy - they like venison.

Ugh on the bruise, Bren. They must have used too large a needle, maybe?

    Hi Joce and Michelle.

Dinner was leftover Church's chicken and peach pie. I had some cole slaw that I am addicted to -- I think she must use sugar and cook the dressing....maybe...it is sure good, but Wayne won't touch anything with vinegar in it. Ha ha.

Time for shower and bed. More deer work waiting tomorrow.
