Wintry Wednesday.......

Good Morning Everyone! It`s sunny this morning but COLD! -12C/10F. Brrrrrrr. Jim went out yesterday afternoon and put our driveway stakes in so the Snow plow guy can see where he`s going this winter. Glad he did as the ground would have been a lot harder this morning!

Not sure what to make for dinner this evening although if I have any pork chops down in the freezer I may make Pork chops with sauerkraut and pearl barley.

Found an article online with photos of the California fires. A fair amount of them were taken in Paradise where Rick and Marie lived. So awful. :(

Not sure what I`m up to today. I should chop up the rest of my pumpkins for the deer and help Jim put away the patio furniture for the winter.

    Wishing everyone a great day.

Hi Janet. Pork chops sound good to me!

It is 19F here. Tonight a few snowflakes are expected, about one or two inches of snow tomorrow. The forecast has changed, moving the bulk of the storm East so St. Louis is more apt to get it than around this area.

The scope of the California fire area is unbelievable. And so tragic!

I remember years ago the controversy about thinning out forests or leaving them
“natural.” Forestry Dept. has been thinning out trees in this area the past year or so. The undergrowth is not so thick and we can see further into the Woods.

Wayne is outside breaking the ice on the horses water...after deer season we will return them to the pasture by the barn where their water tank has an automatic heater! They are safer in the current field than right next to the forest esp. with hunters taking sound shots!

I guess I best get moving. We need to go get propane and work on the RV.

    Have a good day.

Good Morning Karen. I think forest fires are a natural entity themselves but California is a tinder box and without all that irrigation they do it`d be even worse. Sounds like the horses are indeed safer where they are for the time being, frozen water or no.

    Decided to make some
    White Bread
to go along with the leftover Curried Butternut Squash Pear soup I have in the fridge from the weekend for lunch. Plus it will help warm the house up. :)

    Good Afternoon Everyone.

Busy morning. The landscaper got back to me so I spent the morning looking up plants. He laid everything out so nice. Broke plants down into categories so I could pick plants in the categories within the noted sections and included pricing which in my opinion is fair. Now just need to make up my mind. DH wants to take out a section of plants along the one side of the walk completely and lay pavers to extend the width of the walk but I'm not having it. Not hiring another contractor, tying off sprinkler heads, etc. Too much for such a little space and even more $$$.

Gym and grocery shopping today since DH didn't want to go yesterday. No clue about dinner yet.

I guess winter has arrived in Canada and in Missouri … Brrrrr! We are expecting a cold front over the weekend and temps at night will dip into the 50s. The California Wildfires are heart-wrenching. I couldn't imagine living thru what those people and animals have to. Lot's of "finger-pointing" now about who and/or what is to blame.

Glad to hear the landscaper got back to you Linda and that you`re pleased with his work thus far. I wouldn`t widen the width of the walk either if it involved all that. Good luck at the gym and grocery shopping.

Just ran out to the Library and got my book for the January Book Chat `The Mountain Story` by Lori Lansens. Looks like it`s about four people that get lost in the mountains. Doesn`t sound very uplifting.

Bread is on it`s second rise.

Hi Linda. Good luck on your landscaping.

We are currently out running errands and getting propane refills for the RV tanks. If we can get furnace going with refilled propane tanks will run it for a while to try to see if pipes really are frozen. If the pump works will try to pump antifreeze inside to keep pipes from bursting. May have to take it to dealer to see what is the problem, but not tomorrow when we expect more snow. Have Dr appt in Rolla surgery follow up in the morning. After Lowe’s will run to grab lunch then pick up the refilled tanks. And it is deer seaso....not supposed to be running around during hunting season! LOL!

Schwanns guy came yesterday evening and Fritz was ecstatic. Frank hinted he wanted to come visit Fritz after he switches jobs. So funny! Fritz adores him.

Wayne should be back from picking up the stuff from Lowe’s shortly.

I picked up raisins and brown sugar so I could your cake, Janet. Pot luck is Sunday and Wayne loves raisins so will likely make it Saturday.

    See you later.

Good luck with the trailer Karen. Ugh that you have to go for your follow up tomorrow morning when you`re expecting more snow. Do drive carefully. Glad to hear the Schwann`s guy showed up. My Aunt Jeannine would be just tickled to hear you are making her cake for Wayne. I hope he loves it just as much as I do.

Brining a chicken for dinner tomorrow night. Bread`s in the oven. Lunch is as soon as it`s done. :)
