Wintry Wednesday....

Good Morning Everyone! It's snowing a bit but our temperatures are nice. It's -1C/30F at the moment but is going to nose dive overnight down to -23C/-9F. I have a hair cut appointment at 11. Jim wants to run a couple of errands.

    Think I'll make
    Tetrazzini
    for dinner tonight.

Safe travels to Kingston Joce. Let us know how Den makes out.

I'm including a couple of photos I took the day before yesterday of the Pileated Woodpecker at the suet feeder and the silly turkey I have that is clever enough to fly up and get seeds from my fly-through feeder!

    Wishing everyone a great Wednesday!

    Good morning!
Pileated Woodpeckers are so beautiful, Janet. Great shot! They are so shy it is hard to get a good look at them. Lucky you to have such a good view.

Den's appointment isn't until 3:00 so we will leave after lunch sometime. I hope we don't have to wait too long for them to take him at the hospital.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Good Morning Everyone.

Nice pictures of the woodpecker and turkey Janet. The woodpeckers are big birds but beautiful. Sprouts are seeds that have sprouted and are then harvested usually about 5 - 7 days later. I sprout my seeds on a grooved tray and the groves allow the seeds to sit in just enough water to grow. Whatever you are sprouting usually taste like the vegetable, some more than others, maybe just not as strong. Broccoli sprouts taste like broccoli the stem of the broccoli.

If something bad happened to your neighbors Kimmer people/police would have already shown up at their house. I think the other guy didn't know how long the cruise was and gave your hubs incorrect information or like you said maybe hubs misunderstood.

No plans in particular today. Maybe the gym this afternoon and a stop in the grocery store for fresh greens after. No clue about dinner tonight. I grilled chicken last night and it turned out fantastic. Served it over rice with steamed green beans. DH wanted to buy PF Changs frozen rice (rice, seasoned lightly, carrots, peas) last time we grocery chopped and I thought "oh-God, here we go", he doesn't even like Chinese food, but I bought it to try and it was actually very good.

    Good morning.

Wow on neighbors being gone longer, Kimmer. Yes, phone numbers and schedules are important to exchange for sure but men are not always careful to get details and it sounds like a miscommunication. Crossing fingers they return this Sunday. There was a cruise on Royal Caribbean that had major norovirus outbreak recently, could that be part of the problem?

Snow must be pretty, Janet. Like the woodpecker picture. He is a big one! No idea about dinner tonight. It is difficult catering to my food needs and still fixing what Wayne likes, but he is happy with a burger if I go with too much chicken soup! He has been very supportive. I am blessed.

Hope your afternoon trip goes well, Joce. Keep us posted.

It is 39 F outside and dreary looking. We are eating breakfast at home and dropping fire dept paperwork off. Then my election stuff will be done. We may try to eat lunch out or pick up something to bring home. I don’t feel like wearing a wig but the turban I have is lightweight and not so warm. Maybe I will bite the bullet and go for a wig. The nicer headgear will be here maybe next week, since I paid for faster shipping.

Must grab a bite of breakfast then type paperwork so we can go. Rain due tonight so want to get it done now. Snow is expected West and North, then maybe Saturday. We shall see.

Hi Joce! This Pileated is quite calm (or very hungry) :) I took the shot outside my front door and the suet feeder is only about 6-8 ft. away. It didn't mind me a bit and it wasn't until Jim came bustling around the corner of the garage with his snow shovel that it budged. We just got back from town and it's VERY blustery. Lots of snow squalls and the wind is rushing over the fields making the roads quite icy in spots. Hope your roads were clear.

I've had radish and pea sprouts before Linda and I know they aren't as flavourful as actual radishes or peas, but even the slightest hint of broccoli and I'd be pulling faces. :)

Wayne has indeed been a great rock and supporter Karen. You're a lucky lady. Hope you got your Fire Dept. paperwork all brought in and found something yummy for lunch.

I really like my new hair dresser. Jim spent some happy time in Home Depot and bought some wood to make a door for the storage room in the basement. Ate leftovers for lunch. Think I'm going to make a half batch of Mulligatawny soup this afternoon.

All is done. Yay! Dropped off paperwork and ran errands. Went to a late lunch at Culver’s. I had cod dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was far too filling esp with a root beer drink. The potatoes had that metallic taste that comes with chemo drugs so I imagine it will continue for a while. No biggy. Was an expected side effect. Am home now and it really tired me out. I think as soon as Wayne gets inside, a good nap is in order.

Wayne’s buddy is having vehicle problems so unknown if he can make it over to morrow.

Wayne is putting car away and feeding horses. I have laundry to do but will wait until I feel more alive!

    Have a good day.

Ugh on the metallic taste Karen. A shame but hopefully the rest of the lunch hit the spot. I love root beer. Leave the laundry for another day and just rest yourself.

Soup turned out well and I made the Tetrazzini so just have to boil the noodles when we're ready. I didn't sleep well last night. My Fitbit even noticed and said I was very restless. I was awake 6 times and tossed and turned so much that the fitbit couldn't do a proper sleep analysis. I was a bit achy last night and I'm not quite sure why.

I bought a large container of lovely fresh mushrooms from Costco. Love them when I first get them but after a few days they start to get soft and brown and smell funky. Bleck. if anyone has a fave mushroom recipe or two to pass my way I'd appreciate hearing. Thx.

    Hi everyone
I used my instant pot to make chicken chili. Still getting the hang of it but it came out good.
Good news on the Hawaii front. They were able to put the girls together in one suite. So Rachel moves in on Friday with her friends.
Becca had a date tonight although she told me not to tell Frank lol “in case it is a bust”. Of course I told him but I swore him to secrecy.
That stinks on the metallic taste. I had that when I was pregnant everytime I drank water it tasted like I had sucked on nickels.

At 74 years old, I don’t think pregnancy is in my future....bwahahahaha! But the metallic taste should disappear sooner or later. The list of possible symptoms is a plus bec. I can recognize them as we go along. So funny Becca swearing you to secrecy!

We are relaxing watching Property Brothers and a late dinner is in the oven....lazy way out....Schwan’s turkey dinner! The Schwan man has a new job so Fritz will miss out on his dog biscuits. He loves Fritz and has offered to take him any time we travel.
