Won Ton Soup Wednesday

Good Morning Everyone! Was just checking out the Weather forecast. We`re set to get rain today. Jim and I are planning on running some errands. He`d like to go buy a new shirt. We need some more honey for our coffee and I`d like to see if I can buy some Gua Bao buns from our little Chinese Grocery store. If I can`t get them there I`ll have to go way over to T&T, the big Chinese Grocer across town. I want to replicate that dish that Sujie made for us in July when she and her husband were visiting from Taiwan. It was seared duck breast on Gua Bao buns with carrots slivers and some sort of sauce/spread (which I still have in the fridge).

We`ll go out somewhere for lunch. Jim wants to go to an ethnic restaurant.

The Weather Network was of course updating everyone on Hurricane Michael that is heading towards Florida. It looks horrible! It said that Michael will be the strongest hurricane that area of Florida has ever seen in recorded history! Ai yi yi!

Since we`ll be out for lunch we won`t be that hungry so I`ll just make up some Won Ton soup for our dinner. Our library is hosting an Author visit tonight at 7. Dorothy Speak, author of the book, `The Wife Tree`, that we read at the Book Chat last month, is going to talk about writing in general and her books. Jim and I usually eat somewhere around 7:30 - 8 p.m. so I guess we`ll just eat whenever we eventually get home.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Good Morning Everyone.

Uughh. Couldn't sleep last night and got about 5 hours sleep which is better than nothing. Was tired and falling asleep and went to bed my/our normal time, around 10:30 -11:00. DH couldn't sleep because his tummy was gurgling so he got up about an hour later and went out on the couch which woke me up, then I was wide awake. Since he was on the couch sleeping away, after tossing about for an hour, I finally got up and got my iPad and read till about 3:30.
It's overcast here and I am so surprised we are not getting rain from Hurricane Michael. If it wasn't for the news I wouldn't even know a hurricane was happening. I'm not complaining though.
Since I'm tired I want to make something easy tonight for dinner and will probably roast a pork loin with vegetables.

Hope you find the buns you are looking for Janet. One of the restaurants we go to serves them with sweet tea braised grilled pork belly which is delicious! They look easy enough to make if you are feeling adventurous. I wonder if they would freeze well? Lunch out sounds like a great idea. Have fun meeting the author at the library tonight.

Karen, have you had an MRI or any other kind of scan on the trouble area of your back to know more what is going on??

Morning! You have a busy day Janet, that duck over the buns sound delicious. Hope you can recreate it! Enjoy your book chat and yum on wonton soup :)

Well I guess that's good you got 5 hrs. of sleep Linda, still doesn't seem like enough :( So glad you are not getting any affects from the hurricane. It sounds like a big one!! Roasted pork sounds good to me!!

At the gym then I need to get a few things from Sam's and run by the bank. Michael and his Dad are at the house right now about to start painting the outside. Trying to get ready to sell bit still have a TON of stuff to do. Yesterday they went and got supplies and prepped and also sanded down the front door so we can restain it.

Gotta figure out something to make them for lunch, probably paninis or something. Dinner tonight will be chicken fried rice. Have a good day everyone!!

Oh dear on no sleep Linda. :( I'm so glad you are not experiencing any bad weather from the Hurricane. Your dinner plans sound lovely. The Gua Bao buns do freeze wonderfully. I don`t think I`m up for making them. :)

Painting the house is a big job Michelle! Lucky you have your FIL to help! Any time frame when you hope to put it on the Market? At least you don`t have winter to contend with. Here winter time is not the greatest time to sell a house because people can`t really see the yards and the houses look a lot drabber amidst the snow and ice as opposed to spring or summer when everything is green and bright. Both paninis and Chicken Fried rice sound yummy.

It`s a lovely morning despite the rain we`re supposed to get later. Warm and sunny. Lovely fall day. Today is the first day that some of our leaves are starting to actually fall and the Maple tree in the front yard is changing into a beautiful yellow golden colour.

I`d ordered in new burners and heat shields for our BBQ recently. Jim is busy taking out the old parts and installing the new now plus he totally cleaned out the inside of the grill which is awesome! :)

I went through the fridge after all this weekend`s meals. Froze some leftover beef dip broth, three bags of ham chunks and the bone. I still have one dish of cold turkey left to make Hot Turkey sandwiches with. Have a bunch of cut cheese but if we don`t eat any of it in the next day or two I can always grate it and freeze it to use on whatever.

Yikes! Hurricane Michael finally hit land and it's a category 4 storm (almost a 5) and here I sit unaffected. Cloudy day but that's it. It's so weird that the weather can be so dramatically different in the same state.
How are you fairing Kimmer?? Any troubles from the storm?

Painting is a big project Michelle and one I don't want to think about. Happy Michael will have help.

I know people don't want to buy or look at homes in the dead of winter Janet but I think if you do a house up real nice it can show well. Lights … yummy smells brewing stove-top, a fire going, soft music, a bird feeder. Some homes look amazing all decked out for the holidays. Now who might be looking to buy is another story if one at all.

You`re right Linda. But I would still want to see the property without the snow. But for sure there are people looking for homes 12 months of the year.

Sure hope you`re good where you are Kimmer. Hope Laura`s okay in Orlando too. She used to be on here all the time. Miss her. :(

Had a fun errand trip. Jim got a pair of jeans and a shirt at Eddie Bauer and I got a top as well. Went for lunch at `Chez Lam` in Kanata, a Vietnamese place. I got Pad Thai and Jim got a grilled lemongrass chicken vermecelli bowl. Both good and we both brought home leftovers. A quick stop at the grocery store and now we`re about to go for a hot tub. It never did rain!!!

Good afternoon and hello to all. We fared ok so far. Was certainly a blustery day here and had numerous heavy downpours. Wind gusts up to 50mph. Have a lot of debris in the yard and driveway. But no point cleaning it up just yet as we are still getting some good gusts every now and again. Had some tall potted plants on the porch and out front that toppled over and made a mess. One on the porch scared the hebegebes out of Chloe, lol! She was out there with me while I was eating my lunch. My heavens, I never seen her fur that poofed up! She looked 3 times bigger than her normal little self! Needless to say, she wanted in the house immediately! We are still under a storm surge warning and have seen a bit of coastal flooding. But other than that we're good. Nasty storm though for the panhandle! Really feel for them.

Glad you had a fun errand trip Janet. Not quite sure on dinner yet. Have some ground beef to use up so might just do some beef and macaroni with a cheese sauce and dinner roll and call it good.

Hope all enjoy the rest of the day!

Hectic day at work. Didn’t feel like cooking. Texted hubby and said don’t feel like cooking I know it’s only Wednesday but want to go out. I knew his answer lol he loves going out. Never have to ask him twice. We got stuffed mushroom appy lol they tasted just like mine. I got chicken picata and he got veal palm. Enough left over for lunches. And a cannoli to go for later. Got a drink called the smashed pumpkin. Yummy. Pumpkin beer with vanilla vodka with a cinnamon and sugar rim.
Still have the Home Chef. 1 meal to cook. Tomorrow I have book club so probably Friday. I like the Home Fresh because they have a lunch add on. Today’s lunch was sooooo good! Spinach salad with apples goat cheese, sliced almonds and grilled chicken. And a creamy Parmesan dressing.
I have been alternating between the home chef and Hello Fresh depending on which looked better for the week.
Positive vibes for your moms surgery Michelle. Also saw that of FB

    Hi.
    Waiting for GS.

Won ton soup sounds SO good Janet. Hope you ring the buns you need.

Linda, glad the hurricane is not as bad where you are. Yes, I will undergo decompression treatment for the nerve problem. Had a bone density scan and as soon as I get some other issues settled and decomp finished, if it doesn’t improve, will have to see about an MRI or X-ray.

Kimmer, poor Chloe must have been terrified. Poor baby.

Hoping your moms surgery goes well, Michelle.

We ate at Panera’s. I had (attention Janet) a yummy bowl of BROCCOLI cheese soup and their chicken and arugula salad. The name of the salad escapes me but it was so good.

Have good day and all you Floridians please stay safe.
