Worry Wort Wednesday

  • LindaLMT 6 years ago
    Good Morning Everyone.

Hanging out with LD this morning waiting for the dentist. LD is all checked in but instead of having him placed in a pen in the back I'm hanging out with him in the waiting room until he needs to go back for pre-op prep. Of course I'll worry but to know he's in the best hands possible.

Hope you got home safe and sound Michelle. Bet your super tired but happy to have slept in your own bed and shower in your own bathroom. So sorry about the car sickness, poor Bri.

Janet hoping you are able to update us today. It's been a hell of a ride for sure and hopefully it's all settling into place.

    How's Fritz today Karen?

Good morning everyone. I'm back from the cottage and it was nice to get away. The first week was cold and it rained every day but the second week was lovely. Found a yard full of weeds when I got back, sigh.

Best of luck for LD, Linda.

Oh Janet, I'm so sorry about your mother. Hopefully you'll get everything straightened out soon.

    Welcome back, Michelle.

    Yikes, Karen, poor wee Fritz.

Gotta run but will check back later.

    Hi Linda,
That's great you can hang out with him until he goes in. I really dislike leaving Jersey in a pen too, she hates being locked up and has such separation anxiety. I hope LD's teeth cleaning goes smoothly and he's back home soon!

Yikes on pulling over to the side of the road Michelle, poor Bri. I hope everyone is feeling much better today!

Hi Bren, welcome home! That's great you had a lovely time. Too bad about the weeds welcoming you home too, lol ;)

Just sipping my coffee before starting work. It's a lot of phone calls. I have to track down the transmission we sent to my brother. It left here 12 days ago and is lost in transit. It only took 3 days to get here, so it shouldn't take 4 times longer to return! Most of the work I'm doing right now is tracking down money, dealing with warranty issues on products from the manufacturers and organizing sub-contractors for on going jobs. I don't know how my brother managed this by himself before, I spent 7 hrs just on three things yesterday. I can see now why he needs the help!
Dinner is roasted chicken, potato salad and coleslaw. I have a lot of stuff to do around the house, so hopefully I will manage my time better today.

Have a great day everyone! :)

Sending all the best of luck to LD, Linda.

I hope Fritz is doing even better today, Karen.

Glad you had a nice holiday, Bren.

Good luck with your new job, Shona. You will get the hang of it and yes your brother doesn't have the time to do all those things and doing construction as well. The job should help both of you. Your dinner sounds yummy to me.

I hope you enjoyed your cheese night, Kimmer.

Glad you are back at work, Laurie. You were getting pretty bored at home.

I hope you are able to pop in today, Janet.

I am going to see Camden this afternoon which I am very excited about. I will pick up dinner on my way home. Last night when Den came home I asked how his day was and he said it was fine until the last 30 minutes. He stopped by The Beer Store to pick up some beer and long story short when leaving he half backed out of his parking spot and a lady on the other side of the parking lot backed into him hitting the back passengers side and the rear end. Needless to say, he was livid! His car has been hit three times in the last year. Now he has to arrange for body work, rental car etc. just a PIA. They said he will have to pay the $500.00 deductible b/c they were both backing up, even though the lady admitted it was her fault. If he finds a witness that could change though so we shall see.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Welcome Home Bren! I bet having 2 weeks off was blissful. Drats having to come back to a yard full of weeds. Hope you don't have too much to do settling back in. Do you go to the cabin often over the summer?

LD too has separation anxiety Shona and so do I. I'm glad they understand and let me be with him longer. Sounds like your new job will keep you busy. Phone work is tough, I know dealing with things here by phone takes up so so much time and nothing is simple or easy. Dinner sounds like an ideal summer meal.

Drive careful Joce. Happy you get to see Camden this afternoon. That stinks that even though the women admits its her fault that Den is still liable ... basically the summed it up to a "no fault" incident when it clearly is someone's fault. I've seriously been thinking about getting a car dash cam just for reason like yours. Stuff happens and then how do you prove it.

Stopped at Costco on the way home and picked up a few items. Dentist called and LD will need 3 more teeth extracted that are in bad shape even though I brush diligently. It's nothing I'm doing wrong, it's just genetics, uncontrolled prior dental disease, and bone loss that are compromising his teeth. Last thing I need is an infection under the gum line compromising his health. Can't win for loosing on this one. My heart just aches.

Hi Joce, enjoy your visit with Camden this afternoon! Ackk, what a pain about the car damage and insurance etc..that is always a royal pia! Good thing Den got himself some beer, he probably really needed that when he got home! ;) I hope it all works out in his favor.

I made all the phone calls and emails I could, now I'm waiting for 5 people to get back to me. The waiting game...;)
We're in for a hot day today, most of the Province is under a heat warning advisory. I'll have to close up the house soon and turn on the AC. I got the chicken in the oven now before it gets too hot!

I hope Fritz is better today Karen.
Hope all is well with your mom Janet. And particularly with you and Jim! I'm sure it's a hard time and you're both antsy to get home. Take care xx

SP Linda, awww poor LD needing more teeth extracted :( Our dog is genetically prone to plaque, (it seems to be worse in poodles) some breeds just get it bad no matter how much you care for their teeth. :( At least you're doing the best for him and getting the dental work done. :)

Poor LD! I hope he does well. It is so hard to see them feeling bad and not able to stop it. It helps when you can trust the dentist.

Hi Bren. Ugh on weeds! We have to mow the yard but the drought conditions are so bad I am afraid to try. Can't brush hog either because one scrape on a hidden rock and a fire could start! The grass is dry and crunches under our feet!

Hi Shona. It sounds like you are learning the ins and outs of the job....there is definitely a knack o coordinating all the different vendors, etc. I am sure you will do well!

Have fun seeing Camden, Joce. I had two cups of coffee this morning b/c woke up at 4 worrying about stupid stuff I can't change anyhow! Aargh! Ugh on the accident...I hate backing and am paranoid about the one blind spot in my mirror. Eesh!

Fritz early came around this morning. He re-established his relationship with the cats and we had to scold him for barking at AC! He doesn't often bark so it was a surprise.
The swelling is way down. Whatever the little gray pill was that the vet prescribed must have worked. We ground it into canned food and he snarled every bite.

AC walked outside ten feet then came back inside. Mel was out all of ten minutes, Wayne's buddy said he crowded the door before he could even open it. Trouble is outside now. She is the bravest one.

Best go fix lunch. I am making a spinach salad with egg, green onion, tuna or chicken, tomatoes, etc., the guys are working in the field so probably don't want anything heavy. The spinach is rinsed and draining as I type. I could make biscuits and gravy but that is a winter dish, not for miserable, hot days. Wayne is a bread eater so he can make a sandwich if he wants. I have chicken to use tonight so may make fix noodles / pasta and use some leftover chicken broth from the pan to make a gravy / sauce for supper.

Hi everyone! Am at the library for a little 'me' time. Mom is in a hospital in Fort Frances which is about an hour's drive from Rainy River. She is receiving daily physio to try to get her mobile again after being bedridden for a couple of weeks. With the aide of a nurse she can use the walker, but she has also become incontinent. She is saying that she wants to come back to Rainy River and live in the assisted living manor where one of my Aunt's currently is. She may change her mind if the physio goes well. I am totally overwhelmed. It has fallen into my lap to arrange for this new housing, speak with Dr.'s about upcoming plans and issues and I'm still continuing to try clean her house. If it weren't for Jim I'd be a blubbering mess but he has been my rock and really, really, really helped and supported me every step of the way. I often tell him he's a hard ass but that quality has really worked in a positive fashion with all this stuff to go through. :)

So the days have been filled with visiting relatives which has been wonderful, and driving up to Fort Frances every second day, cleaning, talking to Mom's Bank mgr. etc. It's been lovely to have our coffee on her front deck overlooking the river and watch the pelicans and eagles fly over. Each day brings new stresses but at the current moment we feel we may have to remain in Rainy River for at least another one or two weeks. Thank heavens we're both retired!

I haven't been able to keep up with each day's thread but I have popped in from time to time as a little pleasure escape. :) Miss you all.

I did read some of everyone chatting about Facebook. As with all topics everyone has a different opinion. I am not afraid or worried about Facebook. And yes....I post on my timeline if I am on vacation or away, but no, I'm not worried people will go and rob my house. I have friends and neighbours watching over it, and the people that see my posts (on the whole) on FB are friends, and not strangers that are out to get me. I do admit it is sometimes un-nerving to receive friend requests from people I don't know. I have never paid attention to ads being pushed my way re: things I may surf, but I'd be okay with that as well anyway. My humble opinion on the subject. :)

Hope LD makes out well at the Dentist's Linda. I know he's had issues in the past.

Hi Bren! Good to see you and glad to hear you had a good time at the cottage!

Shona, I'm pleased to see you decided to give your brother a hand. You'd be an ace person to have on his team. Your dinner sounds wonderful.

I've been doing a pretty good job with meals for Jim and I. Yesterday before we left for Fort Frances I put a pot roast in the crock pot so dinner was all ready when we got back. I made the Dijon Pork tenderloin dish a couple of nights ago and it was lovely. Rainy River has a Farmer's Market (albeit very small) every Wed. and last week I scored a nice bunch of fresh beets for $3.

Good to hear Laurie is already back at work. That must mean her surgery went well. I'm so glad to hear it!

Oh dear Joce on Den's car. What a pain. :( Hope he gets it all sorted without too much fuss. :( Have a wonderful visit with Camden today!

Awww.....sorry to hear LD needs more teeth out Linda. :( Hope everything goes well.

Wow on your drought conditions Karen! So glad to hear Fritz is on the mend. How very scary!

I've been trying to do the majority of my grocery shopping in Fort Frances as it's a lot larger of a community and it has a big Safeway there. Here in RR there is only a small privately owned store and it's just horrendous. I feel like I'm living in some remote place with no access to fresh vegetables or any 'out of the ordinary' item whatsoever. I actually paid (but didn't tell Jim. LOLOL) $7.99 for a plastic tub of spinach last week. There was no other decent vegetable. I guess maybe because a lot of the residents farm they grown their own veggies so don't buy them there. THE only veggie for sale at the Farmer's Market were the beets. There was a lot of baking for sale and a booth selling Chinese food.

One of my Aunt's has invited Jim and I for dinner this evening with her daughter, SIL, son and DIL. She's going to do a walleye fish fry. She's 88 and I admire the hell out of her. She is a going concern.

Hit the post button after I'd written a bit so I wouldn't lost it. Again, I miss you guys. Take good care.

Hi Janet. Good to see you and good you are out taking in a little "me" time.

It's tough being a caregiver for someone and being responsible not only for yourself but then for their entire well being and welfare. Deal with what you need to first and the rest can wait till another day and take it one day at a time.
That would be great if your mom went to the living assisted. At least someone would be watching over her and worries wouldn't be so consuming. Home is the ideal place but living alone has it's concerns and challenges and then isn't do ideal.
I'm happy you have Jim for support because doing it all alone gets to be too much.
Know you are in my thoughts and prayers and hoping you find comfortable solutions with what to do that is best.

Thank you for your kind words Linda. I very much appreciate them. It's been extra hard with my Mom over the years as she has fought me tooth and nail over such little basic things and now I have it all dumped in my lap anyway. If only she'd been a little nicer over the years it would make it easier. I know how lucky I am to have Jim's support and I know how very hard it must be for you by yourself in your situation. Ditto back at ya with good thoughts and prayers.

Good to hear from you Janet. I don't envy your care giving responsibilities. Do you have any siblings who can share some of the burden?

Great that your mom wants to try the assisted living, it would be good since your aunt is also there and she knows someone.

One of my aunts became quite unpleasant in her old age. She had always said the pleasant become grumpy and grumpy ones turned nicer in their old age. Not everyone goes thru that, but she sure did.

Hope you enjoy dinner at your 88 year old aunt's house. Wow that she still cooks!

Prayers are with you. Deep breaths....this too shall pass.

Hi Karen, so glad the swelling went down on Fritz's face. Sounds like he's acting like his usual self again :) Your spinach salad sounds lovely, as well as your planned dinner, enjoy!

Hi Janet, so glad you popped in! That's great you're getting some 'me' time today :) I can only imagine what you're going through, with all the decisions you have to make too. I think it would be great if you can get her in the same care home as your Aunt. That would give you some peace of mind later on. Of course dealing with the house and affairs now is a pain! Thank goodness you have Jim there with you. Just one day at a time......
That's like me not getting fresh produce around here, or what is here is expensive or just plain not fresh! That's what I miss the most about living in a big city is all the Fresh produce markets. It pays to stock up when you go to a bigger town.
The only thing that bothers me about FB privacy is not what my friends see but what their friends/family see whenever they comment on my stuff. Just this morning I got an email :"Your friend Heather commented on Brian S......status update, click here to see the comment" So even though I'm not friends with Brian or even know who the heck he is I can now see his status update even if he thinks it's private. Does that make sense? That's why FB gets criticized with it's privacy; a friend could have a distant cousin or high school acquaintance and see the comment they made to you and your status updates, pictures etc.I probably only get these emails because I haven't been logging into Facebook, so imagine all the stuff being emailed about you to other people and you have no idea. Personally, it just irks me...I guess I'm weirdly private that way, lol ;)
Enjoy your family dinner at your Aunts house this evening! take care xx <3
