Places posted

Just a note, the restaurants you review here will become pages and pages long and no one will be able to see your posts to this group. You can add your favorite places and review the same restaurants from your home page. When I am traveling to an area, I check a foodie friend's page from that area of the country, and then look for their favorite restaurants, if they have posted them under "places".

I love sharing my favorite eateries and especially the service and value received at the restaurants. Just my humble two cents.

Hi NYM, That is a great idea, but I can't get my "Places" tab to work. I haven't been able to add anything to it since I joined. Do you have any ideas? If I had known, I would certainly have used that way....thanks!
On here, maybe we should just post the thread subject as the city, and then just add restaurants under the city name, what do you think? I will private message this to you, too, just in case you don't see it here. :-)

You're right. In the "My Menus" box the smaller word "menus" is still a link. But in the "My Places" box the word "grub" is no longer a link.
Somebody tripped over a cord and pulled the plug out. :^)

NYM is correct. Each new topic started is ensconced on the top of the heap. There are only so many topics shown on the first page, so your favorite restaurant will slowly sink into the quicksand of obscurity ... unless a new comment is added to your thread. Then your topic magically pops to the surface, takes a breath of fresh air, and sits at the top of the heap once more. ... until a new topic is added. SO ... if you want your topic ... your pet restaurant to be on top, you must type in a new comment every day to keep the thread alive.
Soon there will be a hundred pages with forty (?) restaurant topics on each page. There's no way to search or catalog or categorize the mess.
    Oh bother.
I think the "My Place" thingy on each foodie's page is the way to go.

FoodE4, I don't mean to be cruel regarding your idea. Having some sort of guide for traveling foodies is a great idea. I'm sure thats why Kris put in the "My Place" column when this site was built.

Not at all, Cabin....I am new to the site, and this is what it is all about! If there were no constructive criticism, how would I (and others) ever learn? Thanks to both you and NYM!!
I also feel the same way about the reviews themselves. If they are all glowing endorsements with no discussion, then the experience is rather shallow, am I right? I also thought that this could be a virtual dining experience for the ones who never get to visit these awesome little places, so the more detail, the better!

In the last message, I meant to say, "If they are all glowing endorsement with no discussion of the details, then the....."

You can add more than one review to a restaurant. I went to a restaurant that was on a foodies page and I didn't google it first and unfortunately it was closed and out of business. I don't know how to delete a place, but there are a few on my page that have closed too. I need to go and update the pages and let everyone know the place is closed. Wish we could have discussion about it. There is a group called restaurant rants that you could post your experiences.

Yeah, that is a good idea, NYM. Multiple reviews of the same restaurant are absolutely encouraged (if it is a chain restaurant, indicate what city it is in if different than the original post, because even chains can differ greatly in quality and service....wouldn't want to have misleading critiques), and if you have posted, and find that your restaurant has closed, please update and indicate that in the same thread as the review. Thanks for the good thought, NYM!
