Orange oil

I'm really fascinated by the orange oil products to rid one's home of ants and termites. I've been dubious but recently housesat a friend's place, watering her lawn and plants. When I went over there one morning her kitchen was teeming with ants. I went out to the garage and sure enough she had the orange oil spray for bugs. I really went to town with the stuff. They died more slowly than with Raid but this isn't toxic to people and our pets. I will pick some up for here when next at the hardware store.

Another day I was driving and listening to the radio when they had a segment about companies that are now using this sort of product for termites. Advantages are no tenting required, no need to scrub down everything in one's ktichen, etc. etc. They mentioned some of the companies now using these products and obviously if more consumers demand them this will be more widely available. Instead of a chemical after-scent your home smells like citrus. Win-win.

Borinda, I would love to know more about this - we are battling another infestation of ants in our kitchen, and I HATE spraying the ant killer stuff where there is food. We had a little one here this weekend, and I was so afraid he would somehow get to the toxic stuff...I would have slept much easier if I'd known there was something out there that was non-toxic. What is this stuff called???

That is the name of the Orange oil spray used out here. Since the news segment the reasonable sized spray bottle has been sold out and on back order I'm told. Anyway, I do see the huge refills in the hardware store so I am on the watch for it.

I've seen a few of them on our shelves up here too, not sure if they're available in the US though ... I'll check them out and let you know.
