My sons are coming over for supper so I'm making Chicken Piccata and Linguine....And Paula Deen's Red Velvet cake for dessert.

No dead animal pickup service out here in the county either. I'm hoping one of my neighbors knows what to do 'cause I'm not going anywhere near it. Poor souls, still idiots, that run over the carcass have to carry that smell around on their car for a while. I've met up with live skunks on the road before and managed to circumvent them. Come on buzzards and do your thing!
Going to be a rainy day today so I'll make up some butternut squash soup and some more focaccia bread.

I'm convinced our cat has gone to the big catnip patch in the sky. Being an outside cat I think he ate some things that he couldn't pass. His stomach was all swollen up and tight but he was losing weight and hair. Glad he is out of misery. Now on to the task of de-fleaing the house. Mother doesn't want another companion pet though I'm tugged to get her one. Another week and I'll start getting rid of the cats things and food.
m2googee 1 month, 3 weeks ago said: RE: It's Tuesday Ang, you are far from a jerk! What a wonderful person you are to take the time when you are so sick yourself to send good thoughts Mason's way. Thank you so much and I hope you are feeling better yourself today. This stuff going around is just awful and and if one is not careful it turns into something bad. Hope that pot roast turns out great for you, I usually don't sear mine if I am putting in crock pot; that makes another pan to wash! lol Points, sorry to hear about your kitty.

Ang, honey, pneumonia is not something that you get over quickly, and the last thing you want is to rush it and "take a back set" (as my Mom always called it). No need to sear anything going in the crock pot. I never do. I even put frozen roasts in there...they come out nice and brown. Frozen chicken works, too. And if you have a sauce or gravy your going to want, you don't need to have had that flour on the seared meat; just pour the sauce in a little sauce pan, bring it to a boil, stir a spoonful or two of cournstarch into a little water, stir it into the boiling sauce, and it will thicken, lump free, in just a minute. My slow cooker comes off the base and will sit on the stovetop, so I just do it in there with whatever I'm slowcookin.
Hillary out of school with the flu. They did an H1N1 test yesterday..said if it came back positive they would be in touch...think I'll call them if I've not heard anything this afternoon and double check.
Thanks for the tip on the hot link, Points.
Hillary said she wanted some potato soup, so I guess that's what I will be making tonight. Cool and rainy again, so that works for me too!

All your dinners sound good. I was informed last night that all of a sudden the old man is not crazy about tomato sauce dishes, e.g., spaghetti, lasagna, and my stuffed shells which were wonderful. I think the old age is changing his taste! I said, "well that's gonna pose a problem" LOL Takes a whole lot of good dishes out of play. What's next, he doesn't care for Mexican! NO!!!! That being said, I think I'll make some bland white rice for dinner. LOL
