How wonderful to come across a group devoted to fun with a bit of humor tossed into the pot, too. Yum-o, to quote Rachel Ray!

RE: brillaint
I agree, I love talking to everyone and laughing with them while we get fat...

RE: brillaint
Me too... I love people and alway try to find the good in every situation... I love funny and good jokes ... I laugh at myself allot... I find things to laugh at!!

RE: brillaint
Heavens, if I didn't laugh at my escapades in the kitchen, life would be very sour indeed. Burnt off eyebrows, exploding Kahlua cakes in ovens, flying racks of lamb, incinerated hocky puck burgers, salt instead of sugar in my coffee. Good grief, it's a minefield in the kitchen. But it is all worth it, when the meal works out beautifully and the guest push back from the table with a satisfied grin of happiness and exclaim that they won't eat for a week. That is until the dessert arrives. LOL Cooking is therapy and it makes some of the cares and worries of life go away for awhile. Here's to cooking creatively and giving loving sustance to our beloved family and friends.

Notyourmomma,
So you have any pictures of these escapades? We could all use a good giggle...LOL

Pics?
Fortunately, no one has snapped the incriminating shot yet of my mishaps. Having to draw in my eyebrows for three months was bad enough! LOL I didn't blow up the oven, my crazy neighbor, best gal friend of 20 years was the culprit in that one. She even had a write up in the paper over her escapade. We still crack up at the memory of two hunky fireman in full battle array carrying out the flaming cake sideways out of her front door to blast it into memory with the fire extinguisher. Her reasoning, if one cup of liquor is good why not two?

RE: brillaint
I had that happen years ago, an old gas stove blew up on me. I lost most of my body hair (if you know what I mean), thank goodness my head didn't get it.

RE: brillaint
Oh boy I usually have very funny days.. I give myself a lot to laugh about..

RE: brillaint
I will share, I don't mind being laughed at. I was making a cake one day, using the mixer. Well, I have long hair and for some reason my hair fell down and got caught in one of the beaters. I went out to the pole barn with a beater stuck to my head and asked my husband to get it out of my hair. Gee, no one laughed at me then...sure they didn't. Oh and I threw out the cake mix... Yes, we could have won the grand prize on funniest videos, if only someone had been taping it.

RE: brillaint
You two have a way with words! lol... And I have a vivid imagination, so when I'm reading what you are writing, It's almost like watching a Video!! Still laughing... I love a good sense of humor and I needed a good laugh today! lol lol... I'm thinking I'm thinking... will get back to you later! lol lol

RE: brillaint
Shirley,
When my son was in the one of his multiple therapies, we used to try and think of the most creative ways for him to use a switch activated anything. We were working on getting head control so he could use a little button switch to activitate many different devices. One was his voice output computer, one was cause and effect games, one was training him to use a head access array to drive his power wheel chair with independence, I digress.

Very early on in the cause and effect stage, we discovered his love of cooking and we found an adapted hand mixer. When you pressed the button, it would work the beaters, if you didn't press the button, it did absolutely nothing. So between the physical therapist, the speech therapist and the occupational therapist we decided Tyler would make brownies using that very mixer. We gathered ingredients, had the oven all set, and set up his voice computer to tell, "first we need the mix" "second we need the eggs." etc. He excitedly told us the steps and we did the physical stuff and put it in the bowl. NOW mind you many people believed he was profoundly retarded and incapable of putting actions together........So let's just say he had the last laugh with us that day. When we finished mixing the brownie mix with the beaters and he had that triumphant smiile on his face, and we were talking about pouring it into the pan......no one thought to disconnect the beaters and the switch next to his head and as we stood there in a perfectly spotless therapy room, Tyler hit the switch one more time with the biggest "SH***" grin on his face and completely spattered all of us with the brownie batter......on purpose. He intentionally kept his head off the button while we were preoccupied and deliberately crowed his famous laugh and covered the whole room in splatters of chocolate. We all collapsed on the floor in laughter and spent the better part of 20 minutes wiping up the mess. It was a lesson for all of us, never to underestimate the intelligence of the physically broken, and to never turn your back on a mischeivious young boy. Bless you, Tyman....mommy loves you very much and I miss you with all my heart.
