Schnitz Pie

- 1 lb. dried tart apples shopping list
- 1 orange, peel and juice shopping list
- 2 T. cinnamon shopping list
- 2 c. sugar shopping list
- 3 c. water shopping list
- 2 9-inch pie crusts (one for the bottom and one for the top) shopping list
How to make it
- Cover the dried apples with the water and cook over medium heat to a pulp. Add cinnamon, sugar, orange juice and grated peel, mix, and let cool.
- Preheat oven to 450.
- Fill the pastry with the schnitz mixture, Cover with the pastry, crimp edges, and cut several slits in the top. Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350 and bake for another 30 minutes, until the crust is nice and brown.
