Ingredients

for syrup

1 pound strawberries, hulled and chopped

1/2 cup sugar or splenda

for the floats

1 cup gin or malibu bacardi

8 small scoops strawberry ice cream

1/2 leter lemon-lime soda

4 strawberries, for garnish

Directions

make the syrup; in a small saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer until thickened, about 20 min. Strain, return to the saucepan and reduce for 10 more minutes, or until the syrup is thick enough to coat a spoon. Chill until ready to serve.

Make the floats; mix 1 tbs. strawberry syrup with 2 tbs. gin or bacardi in each glass; add 2 scoops ice cream, top with the soda and garnish with a strawberry.
