Feta Turnovers Recipe
The dough for these turnovers needs to be chilled for four hours. But, they are well worth the wait.

Ingredients
  • Dough:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 pkg. cream cheese
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 Tbsp heavy cream
  • Filling:
  • 8 oz feta
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp cream
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/8 tsp dried mint leaves

Directions
  1. Dough:
  2. Blend butter and cream cheese.
  3. Cut in flour and mix well.
  4. Divide pastry in half and roll into balls.
  5. Wrap in wax paper and chill for four hours.
  6. Roll pastry between two sheets of wax paper to 1/4" thickness.
  7. Remove top layer of wax paper and cut into 2 1/2" rounds.
  8. Filling:
  9. Soften feta with cream.
  10. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
  11. Place 1 tsp filling at one side of the round and fold over; seal edges.
  12. Continue with remaining rounds.
  13. Brush each turnover with egg yolk that is lightly beaten with 1 Tbsp heavy cream.
  14. Prick tops of turnovers with fork.
  15. Place on lightly greased baking sheet.
  16. Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
  17. Serve warm.
