How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 325 then grease and sugar a square baking pan.
  • Melt butter in medium microwave safe bowl on high for 1 minute then stir.
  • Add 1 cup of the morsels then let stand without stirring.
  • Beat eggs in large bowl until foamy then add sugar and beat until light lemon colored.
  • Stir in morsel mixture then add flour, salt and extract and mix at low speed until combined.
  • Spread 2/3 of the batter into prepared pan then bake 17 minutes and remove from oven to rack.
  • Heat jam in small microwave bowl on high for 30 seconds then stir and spread over warm crust.
  • Stir remaining morsels into remaining batter then drop spoonfuls of batter over jam.
  • Sprinkle with almonds then bake 20 minutes and cool completely on wire rack and cut into bars.

    OMG, I have made something VERY similar to these, called Eisenhower bars (I THINK that's the President they were named after). They're FANTASTIC!!! I think I ate the entire pan myself!!!! I used dark chocolate chips, and also melted some over the top. OUTSTANDING!!!
