Ham Bone Stock

- 3 ham bones with a good amount of meat on them shopping list
- 2 onions chopped shopping list
- 3 stalks celery chopped shopping list
- 2 large carrots chopped shopping list
- 2 quarts water shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tbsp pepper shopping list
- 1 tsp dried basil shopping list
- 1 tsp dried thyme shopping list
- 1 tbsp dried parsley shopping list
- 1 tsp dried mustard shopping list
How to make it
- Put all ingredients in a large stock pot
- Cover and bring to a boil
- Simmer, partially covered for 2 hours
- Strain into a large container
- Refridgerate for several hours or overnight
- Remove from fridge and strain again to remove top layer of fat
- Return to pot and simmer until reduced by half
- Use in your favourite soup recipes for a nice smokey flavour, can be frozen, makes enough for 3 good sized pots of soup.
