How to make it

  • in a large bowl combine 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  • in a saucepan heat milk, water, and shortening until warm not a rolling boil about 120 dergees
  • add milk mixture to dry mixture beat until moistened. add egg and beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  • turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic about 6-8 minutes. do not let rise.
  • divide into 12 pieces and shape each piece into a roll.
  • combine paprika and gralic powder. dip each roll into melted butter then top with paprika mixture.
  • place 6 buns down in a greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. sprinkle with remaining butter and paprika mixture. then top with remaining buns and more butter and paprika mixture.
  • cover and then rise for about 45 minutes in a warm place or until it's double in size.
  • bake at 375 for 30-35 mintues
  • remove from pan and allow to cool on a wire rack
