How to make it

  • Clean and slice squid into rings and set aside
  • Wash leaves and put in pot w/ 3 cups water
  • Add Hwn salt and baking soda and bring to a boil
  • Reduce heat and simmer while partially covered for 1 hour
  • Drain and squeeze liquid out of leaves
  • Saute onions and squid in butter untill onions are translucent
  • Add Coconut milk, cooked leaves, salt and sugar and simmer for 30 minutes

    Yep, that's luau. I have taro growing out back so the real thing's no problem but if you can't get taro leaves try "poke salad" and you'll be closer than spinach. I know they got "Poke salad" in SC. Aloha. RJ
