Hushpuppied Catfish Nuggets Recipe

Best and easiest fried catfish I've ever made. I add extra lemon pepper or seasoning salt to the batter because we like them zesty, but it can be made just as is and be delightful.

Ingredients
  • (8-ounce) package hushpuppy mix
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 pounds Catfish fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Directions
  1. Stir together first 4 ingredients in a medium bowl; let stand 5 minutes.
  2. Pat catfish dry with paper towels, and cut into bite-size pieces. Dredge catfish pieces in flour, and then dip in hushpuppy batter mixture.
  3. Drop catfish pieces into hot oil, and fry, in batches, 4 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Serve with Tartar Sauce.
