When you make a batch of this beautiful jewel-toned candy, your whole house fills with wounderful scents of mint or cinnamon. For gifts put in clear glass or plastic jars with a hoilday calico fabric and ribbon on the lid. Ingredients

- 3 ½ cups sugar shopping list
- 1 cup light corn syrup shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- ¼ to ½ tsp. cinnamon oil *( for the red ) or peppermint oil *( for the Green ) shopping list
- 1 tsp. red food coloring for the cinnamon or green food coloring for the Peppermint shopping list
- Note: cinnamon oil and peppermint oil are available in a cake-decorating and candy supply stores. shopping list
How to make it
- In a large heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup and water. Cook on medium-high heat until candy thermometer reads 300. ( hard-crack stage ), stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; stir in oil and food coloring, keeping face away from mixture as odor is very strong. Immediately pour onto an oiled cookie sheet. Cool; break into pieces. Store in airtight containers.
