Molasses Drop Cookies Recipe
These are good with a nice cup of coffee, yummy.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup light molasses
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup sour milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions
  1. Cream shortening and sugar with molasses. Add sour milk and beaten egg. Set aside.
  2. Sift baking soda, salt, flour and spices together and gently mix with creamed mixture.
  3. Fold in raisins and nuts.
  4. Chill for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees , drop batter by rounded teaspoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for approx. 12 minutes.
  6. Should yield 2 - 3 dozen depending on how big you spoon the batter onto the cookies sheet.

Alterations


My alterations will be no shortening, just butter and 1/4 cup of brown sugar instead of 1/2 cup of white sugar-
and I will use unsulfured dark molasses, that is about it.
